Make them feel wanted and appreciated. Step- 2 : Step- 2 Be courteous and understanding, for example if a customer has a legit or out of the ordinary complaint or request, you need to be courteous and understanding. Don't make them feel embarrassed, or they will leave for good. Step- 3 : Step- 3 Handle customer issues and complaints professionally. Never say "no" and never say it's against "company policy ". Nothing ticks off customers more than those words. Handle the complaint, even if you have to lose a little money, make the customer happy. Step- 4 : Step- 4 Take advantage of customer opportunities, and what I mean by this is; when you see customers wandering around "clue less," well, help them out. These are signs you have to see, and customers will be grateful, because they don't always ask for help. Step- 5 : Step- 5 Make sure your store is neat, organized, easy to shop, and a relaxing environment. If a customer is comfortable, they will shop longer, thus, more sales. Step- 6 : Step- 6 When having sales, make sure you have plenty of stock, customers don't want to visit your store for nothing, don't waste their time, or they won't come back. They will think your luring them in, and not rewarding them with the sale item. Step- 7 : Step- 7 Make sure you have sufficient amount of people to help out on the floor. Customers need assistance, and if they can't find any, they will walk out. Step- 8 : Step- 8 Have knowledgeable and trained staff to help the customers. The "I'm new" excuse only goes so far, before the customers get weary of it. Step- 9 : Step- 9 Make exchanges and refunds easy for the customer, nothing makes them happier than not having to argue their point. If it’s a legit refund, just give it to them, don't bicker with them. This really goes a long ways, and yes, there are some scam artists out there, but the percentage is low compared to the amount of business you do. Step- 10 : Step- 10 Cater to the public in your geographical area, if you need to stay open until midnight, then do it. Don't tick customers off, if you can help it.
