(The Story) There is a story that tells how the animals were matched to the cycle of years. A long, long time ago, the Jade Emperor invited all the animals to a meeting to give each of them a “year.” When the cat heard the news, he told his friend the rat about it and the two animals decided to go to the meeting the next day. However, the next day the rat did not wake the cat. The cat, like all cats, loved to nap and slept through the morning. Therefore, the cat did not make it to the meeting on time and did not get a “year.” This is why there is no year of the Cat and this is why cats hate rats. Slide 17: The rat, however, was the first one to arrive at the meeting and received the first “year.” But he had to play a trick to be the first one there. He knew that a small animal like him would not be able to compete with the others, so he begged the ox to let him ride on its head. The ox agreed and they went together. Just before they arrived, the rat jumped off the ox's head and got to the finish line first. This is why the year of the Rat is the first year in the cycle and the year of the ox is second. ?? 2009 nián shì níu nián 2009 ? ? ? ? : 2009 nián shì níu nián 2009 ? ? ? ? ?? 2010 nián shì hu nián 2010 ? ? ? ? : 2010 nián shì hu nián 2010 ? ? ? ? ??
