Craft Creative and diverse. Thus the craft Maranhão. Vessels, handbags, slippers, towels, hats, are just some examples of this great production that, in the hands of local artists, always gain new tones, colours and shapes. Raw materials are mixed. Cotton, leather, wood, clay and even the fiber of a plant that few people know, the guarimã. But the strong is the same as buriti straw. Architectural Heritage The architectural heritage of Maranhão is one of the most significant of the country's precious Legacy of the Portuguese presence in the region. Predominant in the cities of Sao Luis and Alcântara, this is only one hour by boat from the capital.
