Are there any important holy days or times during the year that need to be observed? Days of Repentance – During this day one person admits to what they have done wrong and make a firm commitment not to do that wrong thing again. Judaism does not accept forgiveness on behalf of the other people, and God can only forgive a person for their sins that they have committed against God. Hanukkah - Also called Chanukah is the Jewish Festival of Lights. It dates back two centuries before the beginning of Christianity. This begins on the 25th day of Kislev and is celebrated for 8 days. Passover – It is one of the most important festivals in the Jewish calendar. Jews celebrate the Feast of Passover to commemorate the liberation of the Children of Israel who were led out of Egypt y Moses. Purim - Purim commemorates the time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination by the courage of a young Jewish woman called Esther.

Slide 13:

Sabbath - Every week religious Jews observe the Sabbath, the Jewish holy day, and keep its laws and customs. The Sabbath begins at nightfall on Friday and lasts until nightfall on Saturday. Shavuot - Shavuot is also known as the festival or feast of 'Weeks’. There is no set date for the two day festival but it takes place seven weeks after the first day of the spring festival of Passover. This also marks the start of the wheat harvest and the end of the barley harvest. Sukkoth - Sukkoth commemorates the years that the Jews spent in the desert on their way to the Promised Land, and celebrates the way in which God protected them under difficult desert conditions. Tisha B’av - Tisha B'av is the ninth day of the Jewish month of Av which usually falls in July or August in the western calendar. Are there any age sacraments to help you grow in your faith? :

Are there any age sacraments to help you grow in your faith? The sacraments in the Judaism religion are ceremonies for cleansing, offering sacrifice, atonement, and for giving praise to God. Also the Passover sacrifice of Exodus, where the Israelites were commended to eat a meal of roast lamb and bitter herbs, was a sacrament that helped the Jewish grow in their faith.

Are there any subdivisions of this faith? :

Are there any subdivisions of this faith? Yes there are. There is the Orthodox Jews and the Reform Jews. The orthodox is a greater part of the Jewish community. It admits the absolutely blinding force of the oral law. They believe that there is no "one interpretation" to a verse in the Bible. They encourage multiple understandings of each and every verse. As such, they have dozens of different views of each of offer his/her own view. Reform Judaism traces back to Mendelssohn’s time where it was chiefly prevalent in Germany in the U.S. It has very unmindful views of biblical inspiration and bends Jewish beliefs and practices to adapt to the environment.

Living or non-living being? :

Does Your Religion Have A Place For After Death? :

Does Your Religion Have A Place For After Death? In the times of Jesus, the "Sadducees Shammai" believed that the righteous would enjoy eternal life and the wicked would suffer eternal damnation. The "Sadducees Hillel" believed that the wicked would return to eternal life after having been purged by a fire in Hell, a concept similar to the Christian "Purgatory".

What Are Your Basic Beliefs? :

What Are Your Basic Beliefs? God: Judaism is a monotheistic religion. Jews believe there is one God who created and rules the world. This God is omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing) and omnipresent (in all places at all times). God is also just and merciful. People: It is believed that each person is created in the image of one God. Therefore, all people are created equal. Holy Book: The Torah is the primary document of Judaism. Torah, which means "teaching", is God's revealed instructions to the Jewish People. The Ten Commandments of the Torah

Slide 21:

Land: Judaism believes the Land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael) was part of the covenant made between God and the Jewish People at Mount Sinai. Since the time of Abraham, there has been a continual Jewish presence in the Land of Israel. Messiah: Jews believe the Messiah (Mashiach) will be a person (not a god), from the family of King David, who will lead the world to unity and peace. Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

Do You have Educational Places? :

Do You have Educational Places? Jewish families teach their children at home for many of the same reasons as people of other faiths. Within Jewish circles, home schooling offers parents the chance to teach the Torah (Jewish scripture) in the context of daily life rather than as a subject for academic study. The most important part of their creed, the Shema prayer, insists that fathers and mothers are responsible for teaching their children themselves. In recent times the industrial nature of society has forced many to designate this job to qualified rabbis. Jewish parents who opt for home schooling are returning to the roots of their faith. The Jewish faith, our religion was originally a home-schooling system.

How Do You Praise Your God? :

How Do You Praise Your God? Jews are supposed to pray three times a day; morning, afternoon, and evening. The Jewish prayer book has special services set down for this. There are three different sorts of prayer, and Jewish people use all of them. Prayers of thanksgiving, prayers of praise, and prayers that ask for things. Jews believe that God will take action in response to prayer, and a teaching from the rabbis tells us that the more we ask God to help us, the more God will love us. The synagogue is the Jewish place of worship, but is also used as a place to study, and often as a community centre as well.
