Why choose green? Leafwood Cabinetry contains no added urea-formaldehyde There is increasing scientific evidence to suggest that formaldehyde contamination of residential and nonresidential indoor environments may be responsible for a variety of irritating symptoms which appear to be building related. Formaldehyde is a potent eye, upper respiratory and skin irritant. Evidence from several studies also indicates that it causes central nervous system effects, including headaches, fatigue, and depression. It also has the potential for causing asthma and inducing asthmatic attacks as a nonspecific irritant. Leafwood Cabinetry finishes contain no VOC’s Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. Health effects: Eye, nose, and throat irritation; headaches, loss of coordination, nausea; damage to liver, kidney, and central nervous system. Some organics can cause cancer in animals; some are suspected or known to cause cancer in humans. The healthy choice 2

Leafwood Cabinetry specifications for various LEED credits according to the rating system of the U.S. Green Building Council Doors and Drawer Fronts Doors and Drawer Fronts are offered in FSC certified hardwoods, rapidly renewable bamboo and melamine with no added urea-formaldehyde with specified decorative laminate exterior. Box Construction Cabinet boxes are constructed of a premium grade melamine panel that contains no added Urea Formaldehyde, uses 100% FSC fiber and contains 100% pre-consumer recycled content. Finishing Professional grade natural wood stain and sealer made from soybean oils which are virtually odorless, contain no hazardous ingredients and made from Rapidly Renewable Resource Material. Drawer Boxes Drawer boxes are constructed of FSC-certified architectural bamboo plywood made from 100% rapidly renewable bamboo. What is LEED®? Door Selection We offer 18 door styles designed to meet traditional, eclectic, old world and contemporary styles. Forest Stewardship Council We currently offer FSC certified doors in Maple, Cherry, Birch, Oak. and Bamboo. While we recommend FSC certified woods, other non-FSC certified hard woods are available. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way. 4
