Finding a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS):

Finding a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) If you need safety information about a chemical, it can easily be found online. Open Internet Explorer, which will load the Dakota Growers Intranet page. Under the “Books, References, Training” header, click the link for “MSDS Online DGPC Safety Programs.

Finding an MSDS (cont’d) The “Material Safety Data Sheets” page will load. This page allows you to search a specific chemical by product name or to search all products by a manufacturer. Just type in what you are looking for and click “Search”

Finding an MSDS (cont’d) Searching a basic chemical, such as bleach, may return a list of different variations and/or different manufacturers of that chemical. Find the product you are looking for and click the icon under the “View” heading on the chart to open a PDF copy of the MSDS.

Reading the MSDS:

Reading the MSDS Most MSDS are fairly short (1-3 pages) but may contain a lot of information. Generally, the important information you will need to know will be in one of three sections: Health Hazard Data or Special Protection and Precautions or Spill Procedures/Waste Disposal These sections contain important information about how to handle the chemical and what to do in the case of accidental contact or spill
