The GAD approach emerged in the 80’s to replace the women in Development focus. GAD is not concerned with women per se but wit the social construction of gender and assignment.:

The GAD approach emerged in the 80’s to replace the women in Development focus. GAD is not concerned with women per se but wit the social construction of gender and assignment. Gender and Development – an approach to a paradigm of development focusing on social, economic, political and cultural forces that determines how differently women and men participate in, benefit from, and control resources and activities. It shifts the focus from women as group to the socially determined relations between women and men.

Gender Sensitivity Training – often use to mean the same as gender awareness. But it is actually the beginning of gender awareness, which is more analytical and critical, questions gender disparities, and motivates one toward action gender issues.

What is RA 7192?:

What is RA 7192 ? An act promoting the integration of women as full equal partners of men in development and nation building.

HOW?:

HOW? Set aside substantial portion of Official Development Assistance (ODA) to support programs and activities for women All government departments shall ensure that women benefit equally and participate directly in the development programs and projects of said department All government departments and agencies shall review and revise all their regulations, circulars, issuances and procedures to remove gender bias.

WHAT DOES RA 7192 PROVIDE?:

WHAT DOES RA 7192 PROVIDE? RA 7192 directs all governments agencies to take appropriate measures to: ELIMINATE all forms of gender biases in government policies, programs, and projects (gender biases, sexism, stereotype) PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES for the effective participation of women in development (funds, training, leadership, livelihood, participation)

National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) with the assistance of National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), shall ensure that the different government departments::

National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) with the assistance of National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), shall ensure that the different government departments: Formulate and prioritize rural or countryside development programs or projects, provide income and employment opportunities to women in the rural areas; Include an assessment of the extent to which their programs and/or projects integrate women in the development process and of the impact of said programs or projects on women, including their implications in enhancing the self-reliance of women in improving their income:

Ensure active participation of women and women’s organizations in the development programs and/or projects including their involvement in the planning, design, implementation, management and monitoring and evaluation; Collect sex-disaggregated data and include such data in its program/project paper, proposal or strategy; Ensure that programs and/or projects are designed so that % of women who receive assistance is approximately proportionate to either traditional participation in the targeted activities or their proportion of the population.
