Dispersion If a no of rds are fired from a gun laid at the same QE & line; they will not fall at the same pt. there will be a spread of rds on the grd which is known as DISPERSON.

ACCURACY AND CONSISTENCY:

ACCURACY AND CONSISTENCY

ACCURACY:

ACCURACY IT’S A MEASURE OF PRECISION WITH WHICH THE MPI OF A GP OF RDS CAN BE PLACED ON A TGT. IF THE MPI IS NEAR THE TGT THE ACCURACY IS GOOD , IF NOT ACCURACY IS BAD.

CONSISTENCY:

CONSISTENCY IT’S A MESURE OF THE SPREAD OF A GP OF RDS ALL AIMED AT THE SAME TGT WITH THE SAME GUN. ITS MEASURED NOT ABOUT THE TGT BUT THE MPI . IF THE SPREAD OF RDS ABOUT THE MPI IS GREAT CONSISTENCY IS POOR, IF NOT ITS GOOD OR HIGH.

BURST @ Filled projectiles are designed to burst causing burst and fragmentation eff. @ Types of burst are known as grd burst, air burst and ricochet burst. Movie air burst.wmv @ The killing area will vary with the calibre and type of projectile. When the projectile hits the tgt and bursts, it will pro a great no of fragments in different forms and wts and violent gas current due to the projectile possessing a certain thickness of body wall and a definite wt of expl filled in it. This makes the projectile have dual eff of blasting and destruction. @ The destroying eff depends on the blasting time of the fuse and the angle of fall .

PowerPoint Presentation:

@ The shorter the blasting time of the fuse, the bigger the angle of fall and the greater the destroying eff will be, otherwise the smaller. @ The destroying eff is measured by the eff area for destroying the tgt by the eff fragments. @ The HE shell of 100 mm tk gun can pro about 300-400 eff fragments when it expl . @ Blast eff depends on the depth, the projectile pen into the tgt , the wt and quality of the expl and solidness of the tgt.

Forensic Ballistics

PowerPoint Presentation:

What is Forensic Ballistics? Forensic ballistics is the science of analyzing firearm usage in crimes. Forensic ballistics involves analysis of bullets and bullet impacts to determine the type. Separately from the ballistics information, firearm and tool mark examinations also involve analyzing firearm, ammunition, and tool mark evidence in order to establish whether a certain firearm or tool was used in the commission of a crime.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Firearms evidence submitted to a lab's Firearms Section will typically include: A firearm Spent bullets Spent cartridge cases Spent shot shells and/or shot Shot shell wadding ( Soft fibrous material used in quilt making) Live ammunition Clothing
