Premium member Presentation Transcript PowerPoint Presentation: Welcome To Hotham, a mountain which many of us know and love Mt HothamPowerPoint Presentation: Heavenly Valley Road Runner Village Playground This is the Heavenly Valley / Village area, along with its corresponding lifts, popular for skiers and boarders who range from low level intermediates to advanced riders GotchaPowerPoint Presentation: This is the most popular circuit for intermediates on the mountain, known as the Village Loop. It has roughly 250 meters of vertical drop, is roughly 2 Kilometres long, and is serviced via one fixed grip quad chairlift. The whole loop is covered by snowmaking which means that it is usually open for the length of the season. VillagePowerPoint Presentation: If intermediates which to increase both the length of their run and the vertical drop covered than they must do so by including the Road Runner chair in their circuit, the snowmaking above Hull bridge is inconsistent often resulting in a poor cover. The main inconvenience is that two lifts must be taken, resulting in a short run down the basin to reach the second chair in the loop. ( Sundowner can also be included in this loop and has excellent snowmaking). Sundowner Road Runner Hull BridgePowerPoint Presentation: Another inconvenience that is inherent within this lift orientation is that punters who wish to make their way to The Gotcha and K eogh’s/Orchard area from Davenport Village must traverse two chairlifts to do so: ( From the bottom of the Davenport access trail they must take the Village chairlift than traverse to the bottom of Slalom Gully, taking the Heavenly Valley chairlift before following Milky Way to Gotcha ) This can result in much of their skiing day being wasted in the attempt to get to where they wish to ski, lowering customer satisfaction. Village Heavenly GotchaPowerPoint Presentation: The problem lies within the orientation of the Road Runner, Village and Heavenly Valley chairs, their placement is inefficient Village Road Runner Heavenly ValleyPowerPoint Presentation: These certain realignments/replacements aim to rectify all of the present issues within the c urrent layoutPowerPoint Presentation: This new lift allows for the longest run for an intermediate rider to be continuously looped, following a similar line to that of the Road Runner chair, it begins below the base of the Village Chair, passing over it in its first dip. The new T op Station is located just above that of the existing summit lift. The vertical drop achieved is over 350 meters, a feat for an Australian resort The length from the top to the bottom of the run is over 2.6km’s long Would be best suited as a six seater detachable chair or Gondola, to cope with crowds and cross-winds New Lift/: / With the advent of a second skier’s bridge next to the existing Loch Car Park, the one lift will provide access to all of the terrain currently lifted by the Heavenly Valley, Road Runner and Playground chairlifts. To complement this improved lifting efficiency, intermediates will have Eight potential routes from the peak to the Base. The only area’s not yet covered by existing snowmaking facilities are the Summit To Loch Run, Lower Imagine and Upper Summit runs, all of which lie in close proximity to existing facilities. Lower Imagine New Loch Bridge Summit Runs Summit To Loch Run Skier BridgesPowerPoint Presentation: There is a large amount of advanced terrain in this area (shown in pink), meaning that the lift services terrain for a large target group, and since it is high speed it can be advertised that they can spend less time on the lift, and more time riding longer runs. The opportunity for a third skier bridge exists also, this time above The Canyon to disperse skiers amongst the available terrain Skier BridgesPowerPoint Presentation: With the proposed re-alignment of the Great Alpine Road, A new trail can exist running from the base of the summit chair to the Top Station of the Village chair. With the addition of this trail, the new lift will be able to also service all of the terrain covered by the Village chair, including the Basin, Playground, some of the Blue Ribbon runs and half of the Davenport Access trail, further expanding the options available to intermediate and advanced riders Village TopPowerPoint Presentation: Other Realignments: Replace Upper Playground Section with a T-bar to provide an alternate return to the Village from Mother Johnson’s Return, or shorten the current Double Chair since the Lower Playground section is unnecessary and unused. Place one of the remaining chairs (Playground, Heavenly Valley or Road Runner) along a different alignment up the old Brockhoff Poma line to reduce tower collisions on Slalom Gully and improve access to the Gotcha chair from Slalom Gully New Lift T-Bar Village Brockhoff Chair GotchaPowerPoint Presentation: The new lift also offers a much more efficient traverse to Gotcha from Davenport Village Old Traverse New and Faster TraversePowerPoint Presentation: Potential Problems and Solutions Bottleneck on Swindler’s Trail: The Village Chair appears earlier on the trail and will help to disperse those who do not wish to travel to the Summit Area. Too Many Visitors U nloading at Once: Detachable lift reduces falls during unloading, v ast space on summit disperses visitors Flood Events on Swindler’s Trail: Building the new lift provides the opportunity to reconfigure the entire drainage system on swindlers trail as well as widen the trail through vast earthworks Beginners Making Their Way to Loch Bridge by Mistake: The new lift terminates above the summit which will prevent beginners from Summit area travelling down Loch trail, those who do can take Mother Johnson’s back. Too Many Visitors On Slalom Gully: Alternate routes such as Sundowner and Snake GullyPowerPoint Presentation: W hat T o Do With The R emaining Two Chairs? Golden Point is waiting to accommodate them. This upgrade would secure Hotham as the premier resort in Victoria for the following reasons Longest detachable chairlift/gondola Longest r un from one lift Only Victorian resort with Two Mountains being lifted I hope that you found this presentation interesting, thankyou for your time You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
