Why Do Map-Makers Lie?:

Why Do Map-Makers Lie? By Emma Morris

One Of The Lies……..:

One Of The Lies…….. One of the many lies mapmakers have to tell is about the distance of something. For example during our map-making experience we had to measure the distance from one place to another we had to tell a lie because we couldn’t fit 10m onto a 15x20 piece of paper. So we had to scale the measurements.

They Simply Don’t Know! :

They Simply Don’t Know! Sometimes map-makers have to lie because they just don’t have enough information about the city, country or area or sometimes they don’t bother with measuring they just use old information.

Classified Information :

Classified Information Sometimes map-makers lie to hide something such as an army bases, mines or other private work places or areas. Sometimes if map-makers have a something hidden underground they will make a fake map just like pirates used to.

It’s To Complicated! :

It’s To Complicated! Usually map-makers have to lie because the area is to complicated so they leave out some small details like houses or bus stops most of the time they make maps I encourage tourists so they will only include things that might interest them like: hotels, restaurants, attractions or airports.
