What is a Process?:

What is a Process? A specific ordering of work activities across time and space, with a beginning, an end, and clearly identified inputs and outputs: a structure for action. What is a Business Process? A group of logically related tasks that use the firm's resources to provide customer-oriented results in support of the organization's objectives

Characteristics of BPR Several jobs are combined into one. Employees make decision(empowerment of employees). Steps in the business process are performed in a natural order, and several jobs get done simultaneously. Processes may have multiple versions. Controls and checks and other non-value-added work are minimized. A hybrid centralized/decentralized operation is used. A single point of contract is provided to customers, called a “case manager” or a deal structure.
