FOREVER SPRING FARM:

FOREVER SPRING FARM The equine facility you've been looking for.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The landscape is dominated by the lush pasture that has made the region famous. The many paddocks cover 300+ acres of prime Bluegrass providing numerous rolling fields for horses to graze. Every paddock is equipped with heated watering systems to assure proper hydration throughout the winter months. To provide safety between groups of horses, paddocks are separated by an aisle way. The predominant fencing systems are diamond wire and four-board style fences. The main barn has 14’x14’ stalls with 12’ ceilings. Open-front stalls and doors in the mare barn allow easy viewing of horses. The foaling stall is 14’x28’ and is equipped with two closed circuit cameras that transmit to a monitor in the farm office, Farm Manger's home and the internet. Services offered include: Boarding Breeding Foaling Van Service Provided for Brood Mare Transport Yearling development Sales prep Lay-ups

Doing thing differently :

Doing thing differently Each horse or mare with foal is placed in an individual 12x12 feeding stall to receive the grain product and quantity prescribed by Dr. Williams specifically for that horse. Each horse on the farm has a bucket labeled with the horse's name and the quantity of feed, supplements, and medications to ensure the right nutrition is provided for each horse. Individual 12x12 feeding stalls allow any medication to be administered, and for each horse, including foals, to be handled twice daily, seven days a week. This opportunity for foals to receive early training is beneficial for their development into well mannered adults. From birth to weaning each foal has its body temperature checked at each feeding. Using feeding stalls avoids feeding in groups whereby the socially dominant horse cannot overpower their herd mates, and timid or younger horses are able to eat a full meal in a relaxed manner. Group feeding prevents horses from being handled. Horses are NEVER fed on the ground. Ground feeding (including feeds tubs placed on the ground) results in horses wasting feed and increases ingestion of parasite (worm) eggs located on the ground. Utilization of feeding stalls in paddocks eliminates stall time and optimizes exercise time for foals, weanlings and yearlings. The horses go right back out to play in their fields after eating and being handled. Long hours of stall time results for young horses are linked to increased incidence of developmental orthopedic disease and soundness issues when horses enter training. In recent years a lot of attention has been given to feeding low starch feeds to reduce the incidence of developmental orthopedic disease conditions (epiphysitis and others). Forever Spring Farm has incorporated this technology into our nutrition program since 1986. Every science-based, proven technology is utilized on every horse at our farm.
