Different sets of organs perform various functions. Like bricks are assembled to make a building ,similarly, cells are assembled to make the body of every organism. The Cell: The Cell Cells in living organisms are basic structural units. In the world, organisms differ from one another but all are made up of cells. Cells in the living organisms are complex living structures unlike non-living bricks.Discovery of the cell: Discovery of the cell Cells of living organisms could be only observed after the discovery of improved microscopes. Today we know a lot about cell structure and its functions because of improved microscopes having high magnification.Cell number , shape and size: Cell number , shape and size Scientists use microscopes which magnify objects . There are millions of living organisms. They are of different shapes and sizes. Organism made of more than one cell are called multicellular. The single celled organisms are called unicellular.Shape of cells: Shape of cells The projections of varying lengths protruding out of amoebas body are called pseudopodia. WBC is a cell, amoeba is a full fledged organisms capable of independent existence. The different shapes are related to their specific functions. Cells are round spherical or elongated.Size of cells: Size of cells The size of cells in living organisms may be as small as a millionth of a meter or may be as large as a few cm. The smallest cell-0.1-0.5mmt.(bacteria) The largest cell-170mmx130mm.(egg of an ostrich) The size of the cells has no relation with the size of the body of the animal or plant.Cell Structure: Cell Structure Each organ is made up of smaller parts called tissues. A tissue is a group of similar cells performing a specific function.Functions of cell: Functions of cell Each organ in the system performs different functions such as digestion, assimilation and absorption. Different organs of a plant perform specific specialized functions. The cell in a living organism is the basic structural unit.Thank You: Thank You - Ayush Gupta -Vlll-D You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
