a group of Vietnamese mothers living in Richmond , Melbourne , came up with an idea. all the way back in 2009 2009 A long, long time ago... The mothers asked Nam from the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association (AVWA) for a weekly homework club for the children living in the Richmond Housing Estate and local area. Nam City Richmond

2009 AVWA contacted Judy and Belinda from The Smith Family and Mary from Australian Catholic University who were involved with the Atherton Gardens Homework Support Program in Fitzroy. Judy Belinda Mary

Together, Nam , Judy , Belinda and Mary created the Richmond Tutoring Program in early 2010 . 2009 2010 University students from ACU volunteered to tutor the primary school students at AVWA headquarters.

AVWA contacted The Brotherhood of St Lawrence who found a new space in the Richmond Housing Estate for the program to continue. Before long, the Richmond Tutoring Program grew too big for the room! 2010
