Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide 1: Richmond Tutoring Program This is the story of theSlide 2: a group of Vietnamese mothers living in Richmond , Melbourne , came up with an idea. all the way back in 2009 2009 A long, long time ago... The mothers asked Nam from the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association (AVWA) for a weekly homework club for the children living in the Richmond Housing Estate and local area. Nam City RichmondSlide 3: 2009 AVWA contacted Judy and Belinda from The Smith Family and Mary from Australian Catholic University who were involved with the Atherton Gardens Homework Support Program in Fitzroy. Judy Belinda MarySlide 4: Together, Nam , Judy , Belinda and Mary created the Richmond Tutoring Program in early 2010 . 2009 2010 University students from ACU volunteered to tutor the primary school students at AVWA headquarters.Slide 5: AVWA contacted The Brotherhood of St Lawrence who found a new space in the Richmond Housing Estate for the program to continue. Before long, the Richmond Tutoring Program grew too big for the room! 2010Slide 6: 2010 More tutors joined the team, including high-school students from Melbourne Girls College and Academy of Mary Immaculate. Quynh Diem KoolaSlide 7: 2010 Brian , a professor from ACU and Elisa , a professor from Monash University jumped on board, too.Slide 8: 2011 2010 In 2011 , Smiggle contributed quality stationery and some tutors.Slide 9: 2011 I came along to help coordinate the program with Nam and Belinda ! I’m Iain . I’m a student from ACU .Slide 10: 2011 Nathan from the Melbourne Grammar School brought a large group of high-school students to help with tutoring. Michelle Natasha Parent Information SessionsSlide 12: 2011 Parent Information Sessions Michelle and Natasha suggest ways that parents can help their children with their homework at home.
