By: Erin KnoxWhat do we immediately think of when hear the Word “Science”?: What do we immediately think of when hear the Word “Science”? Although We may not realize it at times, science is found everywhere around us and in many things we do daily. The Human Body!: The Human Body! For instance, Science is found by studying the parts of the human body (anatomy), how they function as well as how the different parts are interrelated.Science is all around us, even within our own bodies! By learning about our own Dna, bodily processes (such as digestion) as well as systems (such as the circulatory system), students can understand how their bodies function.: Science is all around us, even within our own bodies! By learning about our own Dna , bodily processes (such as digestion) as well as systems (such as the circulatory system), students can understand how their bodies function.Slide 5: Science is not just the study of ourselves, but also of the world around us. Science can be found through the study of geology-mountains/landforms (such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Taihang and Yanshan mountain ranges near the Great Wall of China which I visited this past summer) as well as through studying our oceans when at the beach. By studying our oceans, students can learn about currents, erosion, types of waves, wind patterns as well as ocean life. Furthermore, science can be found in all plants and animals around us. Students can learn about the processes of photosynthesis, pollination, different types of soil and much more! By studying both the different types of soil and the various cloud types students can learn more about their everyday surroundings as well.Slide 6: Science is found through learning about changes in weather, seasons or by understanding the causes behind natural disasters (for ex: tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes etc.)Slide 7: Science is found in all aspects of our lives from sound, energy, electricity, running water, cooking, transportation, communications, and even in other entertainment tools. Without these essential things we as humans would struggle to survive. PhysicsConclusion: Conclusion When someone says the word “ science,” images of bubbling test-tubes, white lab coats and difficult experiments pop into my head. However, science can be applied to any aspect of life and it’s about making observations to gather information about the world around us in its entirety. Science offers a lens in which individuals can view reality and the beauty of life around them. We know that science is both practical and necessary, but science is only interesting and applicable to students if it is presented in a fun and engaging way and if they are able to relate it to their own personal lives!Pictures were taken from the following websites…: Pictures were taken from the following websites…
