In Basement of Saint Mary’s Church in New Haven Ct. on March 29th 1882 125 years later the Knights of Columbus has grown to be the largest lay Catholic organization in the world. With over 1.7 Catholic families and over 14,000 Councils across the world. FRATERNAL BENEFIT SOCIETY: CHARITABLE WORKS Throughout it’s history the Knights of Columbus has been an effective advocate for religious and civil rights for all. In 2007 our order contributed over 147 million dollars to charity and contributed 69 million volunteer hours.

Knights Support Vocations and church development through church Loans Knights of Columbus provides educational scholarship programs for Catholic high school and Colleges. FRATERNAL BENEFIT SOCIETY: CHARITABLE WORKS Knights of Columbus provides programs of support for our brother knights who serve as law enforcement officers, fire fighters and in the armed forces. The Knights of Columbus raised and distributed $1.4 Million to the beneficiaries of the law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel who died in September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
