Move away from a One Eared Mickey Mouse Youth ministry as part of the church body Our Goal : Our Goal The goal of youth ministry is: To make disciples (in process/sanctification) Who are authentically walking with Christ (developmentally appropriate) In the context of Christian community (functioning within the missional body/local church) How to Accomplish the Goal : Entry Level Safe atmosphere to explore a relationship w/JC Community building/discipleship (teaching, leading, discipling) Intimate relationship w/peers in Christ (w/adult leader as guide) Community Assimilation (at least 1 adult intentionally assisting the assimilation process) Outreach How to Accomplish the Goal What are you going to do now? : What are you going to do now? Principles to Grasp : Principles to Grasp Youth Ministry is all-church ministry Community is redefined by church culture Reclaim everyone’s responsibility for discipleship Shared Parenting With-ness: The Ministry of Presence Church Acceptance & Integration of Young People Loving until it is felt Understand our Role in Young People’s Lives Principles to grasp : Principles to grasp Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NIV) 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
