Subjek PHYSICS Kelas 5 SN2 Masa 9.40 – 11.00 pagi (80 minutes) Topik 1.7 Analysing electromagnetic waves Objektif A pupil is able to state what are electromagnetic waves. state the uses of electromagnetic waves. state what is the electromagnetic spectrum. state the relationship between the frequency and wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum. describe the properties and applications of electromagnetic waves. LESSON PLAN

### Slide 13:

LESSON PLAN Induction set: (5 minutes) Teacher asks a pupil to switch on / off the TV Teacher asks a pupil how to switch on / off the LCD projector which is hanging on the class ceiling without touching the switch on the LCD. Teacher takes out the LCD remote control and shows it to the pupils. Remote controls are commonly found in every house. Teacher tells the pupils that the remote control uses infrared wave. Teacher asks the pupils if they have any idea about the infrared wave. Aktiviti

### Slide 14:

LESSON PLAN Step 1: (Grid 1) Task Definition (10 minutes) Teacher gives the pupils the task ( questions / problems) . Step 2: (Grid 2) Information Seeking Strategies (5 minutes) Teacher divides the pupils into five groups. asks the group to appoint a group leader. Teacher explains to the pupils the activities. Teacher asks the pupils for examples of resources that can be used to get the information needed. 4. Each group has to find suitable resources to complete the task given.

### Slide 15:

LESSON PLAN Step 3: (Grid 3) Location and Access (10 minutes) The pupils identify the place and resources where they can seek the information. They should go to School Resource Centre (Library and Access Centre) or School Computer Lab to access the information and complete the task given. 3. They can use encyclopedias, reference books or information from websites. Step 4: (Grid 4) Use of Information (15 minutes) The pupils read / hear / view / touch the information obtained. The pupils jot note / print / scan the information.

### Slide 16:

LESSON PLAN Step 5: (Grid 5) Synthesis (25 minutes) They chose suitable information for the task. Each group shows their findings to the teacher. They complete the worksheets. They share the information with other groups. Step6: (Grid 6) Evaluation (10 minutes) Teacher asks the pupils about what they had learnt and guides them to make conclusions. The pupils express their reflection about the lesson the product (content and objective) the process (efficiency – time, sources, cooperation and feeling ) Teacher asks each group to prepare their presentation in MS Powerpoint (as homework). They have to present it on ... (a specified date).

### Slide 17:

Teacher explains to the pupils how to use the Big6 Skills to solve problems. On that day …

1. Task Definition Teacher tells the pupils : “ You are going to answer the question … (as in the worksheet) “ The pupils have to: Define the problems. Identify the information needed to solve the problems.

### Slide 19:

Teacher asks: “What can we use to find the information needed?” Brainstorm all possible sources. Select the best source(s). 2. Information Seeking Strategies Printed : Reference/nonfiction Encyclopedia etc. Non printed: Internet CDRI / VCD, etc.

### 3. Location and Access:

3. Location and Access Teacher asks: “Where can we find the information needed?” Locate sources. Find information within the sources. Example: Library Access Centre Computer Lab

### 4. Use of Information:

4. Use of Information Teacher asks: “What information can we use?” Engage (read, hear, view or touch). Retrieve needed information. Such as : Jot notes Scan Print

### 5. Synthesis:

5. Synthesis Teacher asks: “How do we put our information together?” Organize information obtained from all sources. Make a decision (Which information suits the task) Create a product Example: Complete a Worksheet Use Manila cards Use Mahjong paper

### 6. Evaluation:

6. Evaluation Teacher asks: “How will we know if we did well?” Judge the product (are we satisfied with our work?). Judge the process (efficiency). Teacher asks each group to prepare a presentation in MS Power point as homework. They have to present it in on … Content - sufficient Objective - achieved Time - enough Sources - easy to access - sufficient Cooperation - good Feeling - happy

EXAMPLE OF PRODUCTS (MS POWER POINT)

### Slide 32:

(a) Electromagnetic waves are the propagating waves in space with electric and magnetic components. The components oscillate at right angles to each other and to the direction of propagation. (b) We always use electromagnetic waves when switch on / off the radio, television, air condition , fan, etc. cook in microwave oven Lampiran: TOPIC: 1.7 ANALYSING ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE BY GROUP: 1

### Slide 33:

2. (a) Electromagnetic spectrum is the range of frequencies and wavelengths over which electromagnetic waves are propagated. (b) The wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum decreases when the frequency increases. Lampiran:

### Slide 34:

3. Characteristics of electromagnetic waves Energy is transferred by waves Electrically neutral Transverse waves Obey the wave equation, v = ƒʎ In vacuum, the waves travel at the speed of light, c = 3 x 10 8 ms -1 Undergo the same phenomena as light (reflection, refraction, diffraction and interference) Do not require a medium to propagate (can travel in vacuum) Magnetic and electric field component of wave oscillate at the right angles with each other and to the direction of propagation Lampiran:
