Our study indicated many findings; among them that drug and alcohol abuse and mental illness are often correlated. In addition, demographics, family life, and environment play a vital role in addict’s lives.
In addition, it is evident that SHIP is a beneficial addition to the community. The therapeutic communities and clean and sober housing play a major role in keeping those in need housed and sober. Further studies might emphasize research on women and addiction, as well as mental health issues and addiction.

Project Purpose: To create a survey that will measure the effectiveness of two types of housing provided by SHIP; therapeutic communities and clean and sober housing. The survey will enable SHIP to be more eligible for government funding.
Learning Goals: To determine which methods are the most efficient in rehabilitating individuals with drug and alcohol addictions.
Community need addressed: Those in need of counseling will be provided with the most effective and beneficial treatment, as all of their needs will be better addressed.
Drug and alcohol addiction is a growing issue in America. Through our involvement with SHIP, we hope to have made strides towards combating this problem through helping those in need of drug and alcohol counseling. This goal was obtained through the administration of a survey which sought to better understand the individual needs of those in recovery, as well as helping to better define the demographics and implications of drug and alcohol abuse.
SHIP's mission: to assist those hardest to house to obtain and sustain safe, affordable housing through innovative and inclusive partnerships
Vision Statement
SHIP will be a model in providing appropriate, effective, affordable housing and supportive services for those hardest to house within the community. We will achieve this through innovative, inclusive partnerships, quality management and efficient operations.
