I had previously read the poem & it brought tears to my eyes. Not all photos are of pound dogs, some of them are very loved in homes. No copyright intended. Shannidah, You better watch this Comments Posting comment... Premium member Presentation Transcript A Staffy’s Shame : A Staffy’s Shame The sad truth about Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Some viewers may find the following pictures & speech upsetting. Slide 2: Today is just another day – to me they're all the same, I have the worst of genes you see I bear the "Staffy" shame. Slide 3: The shame is in our numbers, there's thousands with no home. Thousands just like me you'll find, in kennels all alone. Slide 4: My mum was "just a Staffy", my father - well who knows? Mum too, became unwanted, as the last puppy goes. Slide 5: And then begins the process, of money-making deals, A life of "moving on" unfolds, who cares how the Staffy feels? If you have the cash to hand, the Staffy pup is yours, But that pup is getting bigger now, just look at those big paws. Slide 6: You bought me for your image, thought I'd make you look more tough, But you'll find my boisterous nature has already got too much. Slide 7: If you had thought to train me, with kindness and with praise, You would have had a faithful friend to share your darkest days. I would lay down my life for you, but you simply cannot see. You make sure you get your money back on what you paid for me. Slide 8: And on it goes, until one day, I'm no longer worth a dime. The retail on an adult staff - not worth the waste of time. So what happens to a Staffy now? Do you really want to know? Do you care what will become of us, when we leave our final home? Slide 9: Have you ever thought to wonder, "Where is that Staffy now?" The "Staffy" has another name; he's become a "stray" somehow. Me, I was put into a car and driven far away The door held open, I jumped out, I thought to run and play. Slide 10: It was with joy and happy heart I turned to look for you, You drove away with all my trust and a piece of my heart too. Slide 11: I wondered round for many days before I was brought here. Now I wait with heavy heart, trepidation and with fear. Seven days is all I have you see, seven days for you to claim The little dog that you threw out, for which you have no shame. Slide 12: This is my last goodbye now my seven days are up, If only more thought had gone into the future of that pup. Slide 13: As the needle empties to my veins I lay down with one last sigh, I'm sorry I was born a Staffy, because it means that I must die. Slide 14: The Staffy is a popular breed, but their lives become worthless to some. They have been portrayed in such a way that it puts many families & older people off owning them. People have to realise that it's a animal also & not a human. They do not think or feel the way humans do, therefore you should stop treating them as one. To baby a dog is good therapy for a human, but not for a dog. People should STOP seeing Staffy's in a bad way. It's the owners that choose to neglect them, fail to train them & also abuse them as to why their personality changes into something the society doesn't agree with. If owners are abusing their dog, then why wouldn't they learn from their owners on how to act? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! I must say owning a Staffy has been one of the most rewarding experiences. They are so loving & courageous, they are reliable & adventurous, But most of all they will always be there for you no matter what! They are someone who; Even after leaving them home alone all day, are still so excited to see you that they forgive you instantly, running up to lick your face & tell you their story with wooky noises about the day they had. Save a Staffy's life today, They are waiting to be rescued. Ban the bad owners, not the dog! Slide 15: Created by: Teegz August 1st 2009 Song By: Katie Miller Heidke No Copyright was intended.
