ZambiaPowerPoint Presentation: Meeting with well known Zambian artist William Miko, and the Director of the Lusaka National Museum.PowerPoint Presentation: Yellow LLama has created systems that enables artists, galleries and museums to compete visibly in previously unreachable markets. In doing so, they gain access to a much broader market opportunity, and to enjoy sustainable revenue streams.PowerPoint Presentation: Enock Kolimbo is a good example. He is a tie-die artist from Zimbabwe, where the average annual income is $1300 (US). He creates lively pillow cases and table throws, with iconic African animal themes.PowerPoint Presentation: In his first six months with Yellow LLama, he made $530 realizing the scalable potential of his art through YL.PowerPoint Presentation: Previously, he only had access to markets in Zimbabwe and South Africa, with the hope that patrons would see his product, buy it, and take it home. Exporting their work abroad is expensive, risky, and time-consuming. Accordingly, many do not participate in larger markets. The Power of Scalability... : The Power of Scalability... By capturing their work in digital form, their artwork can be displayed and marketed via the internet, thereby reaching a much greater audience. A painting can now be reproduced many times over on a t-shirt, a mouse pad, coasters, puzzles, a canvas print...just about anything. This capitalizes on the value of the intellectual property an artist produces, and allows them to participate in a revenue stream previously closed to them.PowerPoint Presentation: On the surface, this is not a new idea. So imagine our surprise when we visited a well-known gallery in Zambia, only to discover that they could not process a credit card to complete a purchase... Henry Tayali Gallery Lusaka, Zambia: We are continually finding that most artists don’t have the capacity or knowledge to market their work outside of their local areas. It is expensive, time consuming, and takes them away from making art. In many cases, the infrastructure simply does not exist.
