Be careful when crossing streets.
Walk on sidewalks, not in the street.
Walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic if there are no sidewalks.
Walk, do not run, from house to house.
Do not cross yards and lawns where unseen objects or the uneven terrain can present tripping hazards.

Never let your children trick or treat alone!! Have them walk with lots of friends. It makes it hard to kidnap kids if other kids are around. Especially under the age of 12.
Slide4:
Costume Safety Tips: Make sure the material is fire resistant.

If it’s cold outside, wear warm clothes under the costume.

Trick-or-treat in familiar neighborhoods--at homes of people you know. If approached by a stranger, go to the nearest well lit house and find an adult. If they go without you, remind your children to... Don’t trust anyone they don’t know or recognize (even if they think they’re just fooling around).

And for all of you who are old enough to do so…
