Get familiar with the Barcoder Spreadsheet: 

Get familiar with the Barcoder Spreadsheet Open the Excel file named INFOhioBarcodesSpineLabels.xls. Note: When opening the file, a Macro warning may be presented. For this spreadsheet, select the Enable Macros button. THIS ONLY NEEDS TO BE DONE THE FIRST TIME YOU USE THE SPREADSHEET: If the pop-up window informs you that 'Macros in this workbook are disabled because the security level is high', it will be necessary to adjust the Macro security level by selecting the following options within Excel:

Setting the security level of the Barcoder Spreadsheet: 

Setting the security level of the Barcoder Spreadsheet Tools Macro Security Medium. You can choose whether or not to run potentially unsafe macros. OK It will then be necessary to exit and re-start Microsoft Excel. While exiting, you will be prompted as to whether or not you want to save the changes you made to INFOhioBarcodesSpineLabels.xls'. Be certain to select the 'No' button to exit without saving. You can then load the INFOhioBarcodesSpineLabels.xls spreadsheet again.

Get familiar with the Barcoder Spreadsheet Once the spreadsheet is properly opened, notice the series of tabs in the middle of the spreadsheet labeled Users (Patrons) Items andamp; Spines Dumb Barcodes Replacement. These tabs represent different options available for barcodes. Select the tab for the barcodes you wish to generate.

Using the Barcoder Spreadsheet: 

Using the Barcoder Spreadsheet Enter your district, building name and Institution Code. (This is only done once if you save the spreadsheet when you exit.)

Using the Barcoder Spreadsheet Tweak Print Format – This will allow you to adjust your margins if the spacing is off on the labels. (Test the label print before adjusting) Click the Tweak Print Format Click OK Select the Margins tab and adjust the Top margin up or down one click by using the arrows. You may need to adjust a 2nd time. Change Header/Footer to zero. SAVE the spreadsheet and you will not need to set the margins again.

Producing USER Barcodes Click Schedule New Reports wizard. Click the INFOhio tab. Select the appropriate report. Click Setup andamp; Schedule Open Workflows – Select REPORTS * Change PAGE WIDTH property to 200; click OK

Producing USER Barcodes 1. Select BAR: User Bar Codes and then select the Setup andamp; Schedule button. 2. Select the SELECTION CRITERIA tab and use gadgets to limit barcodes produced.

Producing USER Barcodes The output file will be opened in Word pad, Notepad, or Microsoft Word (as set in your print properties). 4. When the report is complete, select the results from the Finished Reports menu and then select the View button. 5. When presented with the View Finished Reports window, uncheck the View log and Format report options.

Producing USER Barcodes From the File menu, select Save As. a. Save the file to a directory of your choice; ie: C:\INFOhio b. When saving the file, use the name 'user.txt'. c. Be certain to save the file as a text file.

Import File – Click this button to import the data from the report you ran in Workflows. A message will open showing the number of barcodes. c. Barcodes – Click this button to create the barcodes. You will receive a message to save the file or not , you may click yes or no. d. Printing - The Excel spreadsheet will open with your barcodes displayed. Select from the top menu File – Print When your are finished printing the barcodes, CLOSE the page (not necessary to save it) and/or Excel.

Printing - The Excel spreadsheet will open with your barcodes displayed. Select from the top menu File – Print When your are finished printing the barcodes, CLOSE the page and/or Excel.

Producing DUMB barcodes Dumb Barcodes – You will create either Patron or Item dumb barcodes with this screen. a. Select Patron(2) or Item(3) b. Enter the number of barcodes you wish to generate. c. Enter the starting number you were given by NOECA. d. Click the Dumb Barcodes button.

Producing DUMB barcodes When you are finished printing the barcodes, CLOSE the page and/or Excel. This helps you with your barcode log by giving the new starting barcode number Click OK; then print the barcodes

Producing REPLACEMENT barcodes Replacement – Use this screen to create a single barcode. Enter the data you would like on the barcode Scan or type in the barcode number. Click the Single Label button. When your are finished printing the barcodes CLOSE the page and/or Excel.
