Moodle Project: 

Moodle Project Chris Loftus, Dakota C. Townsend, Shareesa Bollers and Scott Thayres

Introduction: 

Introduction This project is based on our Moodle course of our technology class. In this unit we will be exploring and learning about Moodle. We will review our essential questions, and write short briefings on each Moodle block. This project is intended to be a stand-alone learning tool about Moodle.

Essential Questions: 

Essential Questions What is Moodle Where did the name come from? How does Moodle work?

Definition: 

Definition Moodle is a free software and open source electronic earning platform. It is also known as a Course or Learning Management System. [CMS] [LMS]

Origin: 

Origin Martin Dougiamas, a former WebCT administrator at Curtin University, created Moodle. He had postgraduate’s degrees in computer Science and Education. Moodle is an acronym for 'Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment.' The M in moodle originally stands for Martin-the original creator.

Purposes: 

Purposes Moodle allows teachers to post their lessons online and students to view those lessons. Student uploads their homework onto the site and teachers view and grade their work. It is a communication mode that students and teachers can interact with each other professionally.

How teachers use upcoming events Teachers use upcoming events make the students aware of future activities. It tells students what their homework/projects are.

How students use upcoming events Students use upcoming events block as a calendar so they can know what is due, and when it is due.

Navigating to Upcoming Events block..: 

Navigating to Upcoming Events block.. Teachers place the upcoming events on the course page. It is the last block on the bottom right, so to navigate to it, you scroll down to the very bottom of course page.

Purpose of Upcoming Events: 

Purpose of Upcoming Events The purpose of this block is to be a reminder to students and teachers of future events in the course.

Section Links: 

Section Links The teacher uses section links to help students get to places on a large webpage quickly.

How teacher uses Section Links…: 

How teacher uses Section Links… The teacher uses section links to help students get to navigate to a specific place on a large we or course page quickly.

How do students use Section Links..: 

How do students use Section Links.. Students use the section link block to find assignments on the course page easily. It is also used to go to a specific link or topic quickly, instead of browsing the whole site.

Navigating to Section Link block…: 

Navigating to Section Link block… They would get to the sections link block by going on the right hand side of a Moodle course page, or if a teacher puts it at the top for more convenience. Users would click on a number in the block that corresponds to a topic/ week section on the webpage and it would take them right there, instead of scrolling down the whole page.

Purpose of Section Link block…: 

Purpose of Section Link block… The purpose of the section links block is to give easier access to the course topics. It is less time consuming and can help to get a lot of research done in short amount of time.

Search Forums:

How teachers use search forum block.: 

How teachers use search forum block. Teachers do not use the search forum block a lot, but when they do, it is simply to navigate to their course page to view a student’s grade or assignments submitted.

How students use Search Forum block..: 

How students use Search Forum block.. Students use the search forum block to search for topics, units, and resources in a course. They can also use it to view a specific news forum of their choice.

Navigating to Search Forum block… The search forum block is found below the recent activities. In order to use it, you can click on the course page and scroll down to the very bottom. You will find it as the 3rd to last block on the right. It also depends on where the teacher chooses to place it.

Purpose of Search Forum block…: 

Purpose of Search Forum block… The purpose of the search forum block is to allow a quick find of a topic if unsure of its location. This forum basically allows you to discover Moodle if you don’t know about it. Search forums are a great choice for the confused and uncertain.

Conclusion: 

Conclusion What we learned from this project: Purposes of moodle Moodle is set up into blocks Each block have a specific purpose that can help us to improve our learning skills using the laptop and exploring moodle. We have learned easier access in usage of moodle.
