Summary:

Summary Latinos have high rates of visual impairment, blindness, and ocular disease, particularly diabetic retinopathy, AMD, and glaucoma – a majority of which is undetected. Given that Latinos are the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population, we are facing a significant increase in the burden of eye disease as this population ages. Targeted screening and treatment programs need to be developed if we are to reduce the burden of eye disease in this population.
