Secondhand Smoke Messaging Keeping It Real: 

Secondhand Smoke Messaging Keeping It Real Yes, patrons of most businesses have a choice…but most workers do not. Restaurant and service industry workers are impacted the most by secondhand smoke. They are also dominated by African Americans, Latino Americans, and young adults working as waiters, waitresses, busboys, cooks, bartenders, laborers, and factory employees. These are often our own family members and friends who are left unprotected from workplace regulations.

Secondhand Smoke Messaging Keeping It Real They usually earn less than minimum wage, have no health insurance, and are without paid time off or sick leave. Thus, when they get sick from the secondhand smoke on the job…they must miss work, pay for their own medical visit, and risk the chance of losing their shift, or even their job, when they are consistently absent.
