Beaver Hills Initiative Update Presented by: Brenda Wispinski April 26th, 2005

Recommendations: 

Recommendations THAT Council receive as information a Progress Report on the Beaver Hills Initiative THAT Council authorize the Beaver Hills Initiative Open House Committee to present the Beaver Hills Initiative Principles and Strategies to the public in May and June 2005

History: 

History On February 8th, 2005 Council approved recommendations that authorized: Strathcona County to enter into a Conditional Grant Agreement with Alberta Municipal affairs regarding the use of the Municipal Affairs Implementation Grant funds. Strathcona County be designated the managing partner on behalf of the participating Member Municipalities Council Strathcona County to contribute $15,000.00 towards the required 25 percent financial contribution component of the Implementation Grant

Discussion: 

Discussion Progress Report as follows: Month of February/March Alberta Municipal Affairs Implementation Grant and all Exploration Grant Final reports submitted Emerald Award application submitted Minster of Excellence award application to be submitted by June 30th

Discussion Cont’d Council presentations completed in Beaver County and Leduc County to determine how the Beaver Hills Initiative Open House Committee could assist the already scheduled open houses for Country Residential Land Use By Laws ammendments within Beaver and Leduc County.

Discussion Cont’d Beaver County Open House scheduled for April 7th Presentation to Fort Air Partnership scheduled for April 11th Leduc County Open House tentatively scheduled for April 25th and 26th Beaver Hills Initiative map will be available at the Environment Municipal Development Plan Review Process April 25th, 26th and 27.

Discussion Cont’d Presentation by Glen Lawerence at the Parks Forum in Camore March 19th Presentation to Camrose Council completed March 22 with hopes of having Camrose Council join the Initiative again Funding received in 2005: Strathcona County $15,000.00 Leduc County $9,000.00 Recently approved $150,000.00 from Alberta Municipal Affairs Implementation Grant
