Identification Children with one or more abilities to a level significantly ahead of their year group, or with the potential to develop those abilities. (DfES) This could be a very specific area within a subject Underachieving or SEN pupils who are gifted and talented. These abilities can change overtime.

Extending the More Able: 

Extending the More Able In an English lesson the class were asked to produce a discursive essay on the title ‘Fox hunting is an attack on rural life. Do you agree or disagree?’ The most able were expected to produce 3 sides of A4, and the other pupils 2 sides. In a history lesson on Victorian fashion and how fashion changed during the era, the more able children were asked to speculate on reasons why fashion had changed.
