Picture Quality - Resolution: 

Picture Quality - Resolution Highest resolution for print purposes…  If you are going to crop the shot for a web page, then use higher resolution. 640 X 480 okay for web pages… Also good for PowerPoint… Really should always use the highest quality…

Using the Photos: 

Using the Photos Upload all pictures to a computer and then erase storage device…  Name the folder a name you can remember (associated with activity)…  If you can, have your camera name each picture by the date taken. Keeps you from accidentally removing a picture you might have wanted to keep…… Use PowerPoint to print your photos… 1600 X 1200 makes fine 10 X 8 photos…

Using the Photos Use PhotoShop or other graphics program to edit or adjust your pictures.  Crop out unneeded space.  Do not over SHARPEN a photo. One time sharpening is usually okay… more than that creates grainy photos.  Easiest to save as .JPG. .TIF documents are the highest quality- Use the most space…TIF must be resaved as .JPG or .GIF documents to be used on a web site. RAW very high end… more difficult to work with…

A Few Tricks: 

A Few Tricks Use Optical zoom as often as you like…  Never use Digital Zoom… Very blurry results… Very pixilated… Use of a tripod is very helpful if you are taking portraits or shots that don’t need lots of adjustment… Great for taking shots in very dark spaces or of the sky at night…

Plan your photos when possible…: 

Plan your photos when possible…  Think of the background…  Take them in a series… If you get out of sequence, write yourself a note or remember what you did…  If plaques or description signs are present, take shots of those signs at the same time…  Think of any set of pictures as a potential web site…
