Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar . A pre-eminent political and ideological leader of India during the Indian independence movement. Gandhi led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.

Salt Satyagraha (Salt March) began with the Dandi March on March 12, 1930. It was a campaign of nonviolent protest against the British salt monopoly in colonial India.

Quit India Movement launched in India in August 1942 in response to Mohandas Gandhi's call for immediate independence. On July 14, 1942, the Indian National Congress passed a resolution demanding complete independence from Britain. He first displayed this principle when he gave up wearing western-style clothing, which he associated with wealth and success. Gandhi dressed to be accepted by the poorest person in India, advocating the use of homespun cloth ( khadi ). Swaraj , Self-Rule : Gandhi was a self-described philosophical anarchist and his vision of India meant India without an underlying government.He once said that "the ideally nonviolent state would be an ordered anarchy."
