UNIT THREE REVIEW “FROM VICTIM TO VICTOR”

PowerPoint Presentation:

Unit Three - Review Everyone is Israel was defeated, desperate, and persecuted. In the midst of this stood Daniel, an educated teenager from a noble family in Jerusalem. His home city was destroyed and no one knows what happened to his family. He, himself, was marched off to exile in Babylon…a future derailed. His three friends were taken captive too. Their faith remained strong when everyone else’s wavered . And what did they get for it? They were arrested, condemned, and thrown into a blazing hot furnace. Later in life, this eighty year old man prays to his God and is consequently betrayed by his co-workers. He is literally…thrown to the lions.

Unit Three - Review Fast forward some 500 years and we find Mary, a teenage girl who has kept herself sexually pure. She’s never been touched by a man. Yet she’s pregnant. No one will believe her story and her fiancé breaks off their engagement. Even the Son of God, whose Heavenly Father thunders His approval at His baptism is not spared the struggle. He is led into the wilderness where He goes 40 days without food or shelter. He’s weak, He’s Lonely, and He’s famished. And that is when the tempter appears with hopes to take Him out while He is down.

Unit Three - Review Maybe you have experienced similar times. Times when you felt defeated, desperate, and persecuted. It is only natural at times like this to feel like a victim. But from all the indications of scripture, none of these individuals did. Instead of accepting the fate of victims, they stepped up to the challenge and by faith became victors! Daniel – Became an influential advisor to the king The three Hebrew Children – survived the fiery furnace and prompted the king to worship the one, true God. Daniel – came forth from the lion’s den unscathed. Mary – became the mother of the long-awaited Messiah. Jesus – not only endured temptation but went on to triumph over it!

Unit Three - Review God’s great salvation includes deliverance from victimhood. He sent His son Jesus to His loved ones from sin, and with it from guilt and shame. Those who put their trust in Him no longer have to live as victims of sin and circumstance, but can become victorious by entrusting their lives to His direction and care. As our memory verse says, “In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
