Style Savvy Image Look for pants and skirts that hug your hips. Low-waist pants, hip huggers, hipster pants and low-slung skirts will complement your figure well. Pants and skirts without a waistband inherently sit lower. Choose a belt that is the same color as your top. This gives the illusion that your torso is longer. By wearing belts below the waist, you can further lengthen the line of your upper body. Wear tunics, sweaters and jackets that hang below the waist. Make sure your tops hit above the behind, however, or you risk shortening the look of your legs. Pair a shorter skirt with long jackets. Wear open, un-tucked blouses over an un-tucked camisole or tank top. Keep the colors similar. Avoid high-waist pants. When dressing to balance a short- waist you must give the illusion of elongation in the upper half of the body.

Slide 17:

Style Savvy Image ·Mix lengths when you must wear a suit. Wear long jackets with shorter skirts, and short jackets with longer skirts. ·Select high-waist pants and skirts, as these styles create the illusion that your legs start in a higher place. Ignore this tip if you have a short-waist. ·Opt for short skirts and shorts where appropriate. Skirts or shorts to the knee will highlight the shortness of your leg. ·Choose long, tapered pants such as leggings or cigarette pants. Wear capri pants and pedal pushers for casual spring and summer days. ·Wear shirts, jackets and coats that are short in length. Go for crop tops on warm days. ·Avoid tops that hit the hips and tunics and long blazers. These will lengthen your torso, thereby shortening the lower half of your body. ·Consider wearing all one color. This creates a long visual line. ·Give yourself a slight boost with a low to mid-height heel. You can even find casual tennis shoes with a 1-inch heel. ·Steer clear of cuffed and wide-leg pants. When you have short legs create the illusion of longer legs by combining silhouettes that lengthen your lower half.

Style Savvy Image A balanced body can utilize the short torso techniques to appear taller.

Slide 20:

Style Savvy Image To dress an hour glass shape depends on what you want to highlight. Some women want to make their busts appear smaller, while others augment their bust lines and want to show them off. Larger bust and possibly shoulders. Wider back & small waist. Larger hips and bottom. Body appears balanced with rounded body lines. Choose tops that define your small waist. Wrap tops, tie waist tops or belted tops are great examples of this. Show off a great bust. Scoop necks tops and V-neck tops are examples of tops that accomplish this for an hourglass body type. Avoid necklines that hit high on the neck like turtlenecks. They draw attention away from the waist-the main asset of the hourglass. Try wearing single piece outfits. They don't break up the figure like a two piece outfit, which flatters an hourglass body type's curves. Wear straight leg or slightly flared bottoms. Baggy pants give the appearance of more roundness, so opt for the pants that are fitted at the top that help define and flatter the slim waist. Do not wear pockets, bling or any kind of washed out area (blue jeans) on your bottom, unless you want it to be amplified. Select skirts that hit right above the knee or lower. While shorter skirts draw attention away from the waist, the longer lengths show off legs while still accentuating the waist area on an hourglass body type. Find jackets that hit either above or below the rear. Anything that hits directly on the bottom will make an hourglass figure appear larger.

Slide 21:

Style Savvy Image The object of dressing a Triangle Shape is to minimize the lower torso and lead attention upward. Emphasize upper torso with soft fullness, design details & more visible skin. Always wear smooth, loose fitting garments below the waist. A triangle shaped body is one that has narrow shoulders, small breasts, smallish waistline and heavier bottom with curvier butt and bigger hips. This kind of body tends to make you look unbalanced with a very small upper body, big out of proportion lower body with short legs. Remember light skin draws attention and acts as a highlight, so wear tops that do not completely cover the upper body like spaghetti straps and other sleeveless garments. For women of color, the effect is the opposite. For tops, you should choose something that highlights your upper body. The best way to do this is to choose a bright colored top that matches your skin tone as well. A brightly color top will always draw the eye away from your butt and hips. Tops that have ruffles or patterns can also enlarge your upper body. Puffy sleeves are also great at giving balance to your shape. You should avoid low cut v neck tops because it tends to reveal that your bust is small. To effectively minimize the appearance of a triangle shaped body, you must choose pants or skirts that best fit your body shape. Dark colors on the bottom will flatter your shape because it tends to make that area look smaller than it actually is. Also, dark colors on the bottom matches well with brighter tops. The shape of the pants should be either straight leg or small boot cut. You should always wear it with a pair of heels to elongate the figure more. Skirts should be A-line to de-emphasize the hip and butt areas effectively. It is important to accessorize well to balance the pear shaped body. In colder climates, always wear a scarf with what you are wearing to draw attention and add volume to your face and upper body.

Slide 22:

Style Savvy Image Women who have Inverted Triangle shapes traditionally have wider shoulders, sometimes larger breasts, with narrower hips and thighs. Bringing balance means highlighting the lower half and diminishing the top portion. ·Choose bottoms that flare to balance out the larger upper half of the body. Skirts and pants with a flare add the illusion of uniformity. ·Pick tops that show off thin arms to flatter this body type. Sleeveless tops and flutter sleeve tops accomplish this goal. Roll up the cuffs of your sleeves to show forearms and write area. It will cause a break near your hipline and create a slimmer silhouette. ·Wear darker colors on top and lighter colors on the bottom. This minimizes the top half. Lighter colors also create the illusion of a larger bottom half, and creates proportion. ·Buy tops that cover the hip area. This obscures the wider waist that inverted triangle body types have. It also draws the attention towards the shapely and slim legs associated with an inverted triangle body type. · Try tops that have less detail. Details draw attention to the top, and will make an inverted triangle's top even more noticeable. · Select knits or similar fabrics. Knits flatter because they are slightly form fitting, while still forgiving of flaws. Anything too tight will exaggerate the top half, and showcase the larger waist, so always use soft flowing fabrics. ·Wear shirts with large straps. Anything strapless or with thin straps will draw attention to wide shoulders. Sleeveless tops are not as flattering, they make the shoulders appear broader.

Slide 23:

Style Savvy Image Items like dresses, dress pants and dressy blouses can all be worn in a way that flatters a rectangle figure. The object is to create the illusion that you have larger hips than your waist and larger breasts than you do. This can be done by the cut and the color of the dress items you choose. Look for items that are tailored at the waist. The shirt, jacket or dress should nip in at the waist to create the illusion that it's your figure that has the waist. The cut of the outfit should also emphasize the bust line. A shirt or dress with an empire waist will make the bust look larger and therefore the figure curvier. Choose brighter and darker colors at the bust line to break up your figure and make your bust look larger. Many shirts and dresses feature extra color or detailed styling at the top. These you can help to instantly look curvier. Use fun belts to make blousy garment fit snuggly at the waist line. For a woman who has the body dynamic of a rectangle the goal is to dress the body to appear curvier.

Slide 24:

Style Savvy Image Above average weight range for height ratio.   Someone with an rounded shape carries most of her weight above her waist, most noticeably in her stomach. She often has large breasts, narrow hips and thin legs. A protruding tummy is the cause of continuing frustration for the woman who dresses for this figure type. ·Look for fabrics that skim your shape. Instead of dressing in clothes that are tight or clingy, buy flowing silks and loose cottons tailored in simple designs. ·Dress in monochromatic outfits, instead of mixing several colors. This gives the illusion of length rather than width. Dark colors and patterns to scale are best. ·Emphasize your great legs by dressing in knee length skirts. ·Wear tops with a long shirttail hem. The rounded hem camouflages the tummy. ·Find top that wrap around your figure and create folds over the stomach area. ·Buy skirts and pants with flat fronts. Although they may be more difficult to find, look for side and back zippers. Avoid pockets, pleats and gathers near the waist. ·Draw the eye to your shapely bust line by choosing a well-fitted bra. Tops with V-necks are a good choice.
