Project “Institutions, Educational Networks, and Public Politics, with a focus on human right and equity for the promotion of a quality education in Peru” : Project “Institutions, Educational Networks, and Public Politics, with a focus on human right and equity for the promotion of a quality education in Peru”Project “Institutions, Educational Networks, and Public Politics, with a focus on human right and equity for the promotion of a quality education in Peru”: Project “Institutions, Educational Networks, and Public Politics, with a focus on human right and equity for the promotion of a quality education in Peru” I have been providing support in this project. Continuing Education Program Study Circle for Action & Reflection Educators Network for Equity Inclusion in Education Diploma “Education, human rights, & public politics” Campaign “I have the right to an quality education in my culture”Project Development : Project Development Project development Team in the Gender Equity & Violence Prevention Area (from left to right: Maria Esther Fernandez, Sarah Beer, Flor Montedoro , Felicita Ramirez) Currently, we are developing 2 projects on gender based violence prevention and in family planning and sexual & reproductive rights of adolescent girls.Project “Promoting Healthy Relationships in Chosica del Norte”: Project “Promoting Healthy Relationships in Chosica del Norte ” “ Promoting Healthy Relationships in Chosica del Norte ” Project’s objective is to decrease harmful disciplinary practices (humiliating and violent ways of punishing children commonly interpreted as a means of educating and disciplining children and youth) in families. The project also aims to empower parents to promote awareness in their community and in other families in order to decrease the high rate of family violence and gender violence in their community. I work with Eva Puyen the Project Coordinator. I support this project by accompanying Eva in workshops, a non-violence campaign, meetings, helping out with planning, carrying out a community survey, and monitoring and evaluating the results of the project.Gender Workshops: Gender Workshops Fely & I facilitated a workshop “Gender in Our Lives” Youth began to analyze gender stereotypes and expectations in their society and families that promote strict gender roles and gender identities. The workshop allowed a space for youth to talk about the meaning of gender identity and how their gender and sex identity affects their lives.Gender Workshops: Gender Workshops Fely and I helped facilitate a women’s group This was a space for women to talk about their lives, dreams, challenges, feelings, and ideas The women’s group was a space for women to discuss topics that interested them.Line of Action: Infant & Youth Development : Line of Action: Infant & Youth Development The Infant & Youth Development Area carries out a Sponsor Child Program funded by the NGO Chalice Canada Currently, the program has around 300 children pared with Canadian sponsor parents. From August 2010 to June 2011, I was the person responsible for translating reports and children’s letters to their Canadian sponsor parents. I also was the english translator coordinator for the visit of 30 Canadians from Chalice Canada.Centre Santa Angela’s EcoClub for Youth: Centre Santa Angela’s EcoClub for Youth (On the Left) Marching with the youth and Elementary Schools in the district of Jose Leonardo Ortiz . We arrived at the Municipality in order to advocate for the implementation of a Municipal Environmental Committee . The mayor promised to implement the committee that day. The youth , Jani Diaz (Project Coordinator) and myself get together to participate in our EcoClub workshops every second Saturday morning of the month.Women’s Circles: Women’s Circles Women’s Circles are a collective organization led by women from diverse backgrounds in Chiclayo. This is a space for women to share with other women their spirituality, friendship, and solidarity. A Women’s Circle is a place where women can engage in open dialogue and reflection. There are 9 Women’s Circles in Chiclayo. A new Young Women’s Circle was initiated in October in which I participate . The picture to the left shows Jackie, Susanna, and Rosa who are also part of the Circle. The picture above shows Maria Esther participating in a Women’s Circle ritual. She is also apart of the Young Women’s Circle.The World March of Women on March 8th: The World March of Women on March 8th Every March 8th on International Women’s Day, the World March of Women (WMW) mobilizes women , community organizations, and NGOs from all over Chiclayo to march for the realization of women’s rights and gender equality and equity in Peru. The GEVP area at Centro Esperanza helped mobilize women and organizations for the march.The World March of Women: The World March of Women At the National Assembly of the World March for Women in July 2011. Adet Polo and I met in the Assembly. Adet is a leader of the National Domestic Workers Union Lidia, a leader of the women’s group called Women in Action based in the rural town of Incawasi . Here, she is speaking about how climate change affects rural women at a WMW conference on Climate Change, Food Security, & Gender Inequality. Peruvian Masculinities Network (PMN) Lambayeque Division : Peruvian Masculinities Network (PMN) Lambayeque Division Participants in the Masculinities Workshop held by the Peruvian Masculinities Network (PMN), Lima Division. PMN Lambayeque is being initiated by various organizations. I am participating in PMN and currently representing Centro Esperanza.Meeting other Global partners in Perú : Meeting other Global partners in Perú (Picture on the right) First visit to Kairos Peru’s national office and board of directors ! I met with Enrique Alva Callupe , Gregory Bardales P., Sarah Beer, Maria Elena Zelda Valdivia, y Marisol Ale Diaz (right to left) (Picture on the Left) Picture after attending a weekend workshop on “The image of god from an intercultural perspective” organized by KAIROS Peru’s Table for Gender, Theology, and Pastoral Relations .For me, global partnership with Centro Esperanza is about:: For me, global partnership with Centro Esperanza is about: Profoundly engaging in a journey of global partnership, exploring how to be in right relationships with Centro Esperanza Being in right relationships with our global partners and their communities has meant mutually learning, supporting, sharing, listening, respecting and being open to diversity, and engaging in intercultural relationships. Observing ministries in Chiclayo and Peru. For example, becoming more aware about people’s struggles for justice and equality in Chiclayo in Peru and what organizations and people are doing in response to injustices and inequalities. Supporting the work of Centro Esperanza and working with our shared vision of justice, gender equality, education, democracy, human rights, respect for cultural diversity, and sustainable community development. Communicating the experience with the United Church of Canada Continual reflection about the meaning of global partnership and self-reflection about my presence in Chiclayo.
