Praxis I (PPST) Information - Who has to take it, who doesn’t and what you have to score… SAT, ACT, & Other Information Praxis I Reading Praxis I Writing Praxis I Math SAT (Verbal & Math) Total ≥ 1100 OR ACT Composite Total ≥ 24 Exempt Exempt Exempt SAT (V & M) Total < 1100, Verbal ≥ 550 OR ACT Composite Total < 24, English ≥ 24 Exempt Exempt Must take & pass with Score ≥ 173*** SAT (V & M) Total < 1100, Math ≥ 550 OR ACT Composite Total< 24, Math ≥ 24 Must take & pass with Score ≥ 176*** Must take & pass with Score ≥ 173*** Exempt *** THE KEY IS TO HAVE a combined total for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics of 522 or higher if you have to take Praxis I!!!!!

Praxis I-When, How, and Available Resources When to take it? If your first semester at UNCG was Fall 2010, you want to start preparing for Praxis I in the Fall 2011 semester so that you can take it for the first time no later than January through March 2012. Remember that all Dual majors need to speed this process up and start preparing for the Praxis I right now and take it in May or June 2011 since you will go into Teacher Education in the Spring of your Sophomore year!!! Don’t wait until the last minute to do this!!! How – Register at www.ets.org/praxis for the written version. For the computer version, contact Pro Metrics at 1 800 853 6773. Resources to help you if you have to take it: Go to http://www.uncg.edu/ted/teachacad_praxis.html for times & dates for workshops. Once the dates for the 2011-2012 academic year have been determined, they will be posted on this websites. Free online practice tests through the Jackson library homepage ( http://library.uncg.edu/ ). Go to the following website: http://www.learnatest.com/LEL/index.cfm/learningCenter/jobsCareers/TEACHER_CERTIFICATION_LEL/PPST__Praxis_1, scroll down & click on one of the practice tests.

Teaching Fellows Current Freshmen Teaching Fellows need to register for TED 298-01. The CRN for this course is 82951.

Summer 2011 Classes(if needed):

Summer 2011 Classes (if needed) At UNCG , the advising code for summer can be found in your advising notes. Two summer sessions at UNCG – 1 st session is May 23-June 24 and 2 nd summer session is June 27-August 1. Remember these classes will go at three times the pace of a regular semester. You can also take summer courses at a NC Community College . You must request an “official transcript” of your grades there be sent to UNCG and you must make at least a “C” for the course to count here at UNCG. Go to http://www.uncg.edu/reg/TransferCredits/CommCollege/CCindex.html to see how NC Community College courses transfer back to UNCG. It is better to avoid taking courses that transfer back to UNCG as BIO 000. Taking summer courses at Other Colleges is also a possibility. You must request an “official transcript” of your grades there be sent to UNCG and you must make at least a “C” for the course to count here at UNCG. . It is better to avoid courses taking courses that transfer back to UNCG as BIO 000. Option one is to go to http://web.uncg.edu/reg/static/transfer/alpha/search.asp?searchtype=alpha to see how your proposed course will transfer back to UNCG. Option two is to go to http://www.uncg.edu/reg/transfer/TransferFormInstructions.html , print off the form, and turn it into the UNCG registrar’s office so they can evaluate how particular courses will transfer back to UNCG .
