Requirements to be admitted into Teacher Education/Teachers Academy:

Requirements to be admitted into Teacher Education/Teachers Academy A. Complete SES 250 with a grade of at least a “C” or higher. SES = Specialized Education Services Department. B. No grade below a C- in courses with the SES prefix is acceptable. C. Have a cumulative gpa of 2.75 or higher. D. Pass Praxis I (PPST) with needed scores OR be exempt by SAT/ACT scores OR have a 3.20 cum. gpa at the end of the semester before beginning the program. If a student does not have a strong gpa upon beginning SES 250 it is not advised for students to wait to take the Praxis I unless the cum. gpa of 3.20 is certain. E. Strongly recommended to stay on track for graduation, but not required for admission into Teacher Education : Complete GEC courses and LIS 120.

Scheduling Strategy #2 For Fall 2011 Schedule- SES 101 & ELC 381 T ake SES 101 and ELC 381. ELC=Educational Leadership & Cultural Foundations. Build your schedule around these two courses!!

Scheduling Strategy #3 For Fall 2011 Schedule-MAT 115:

Scheduling Strategy #3 For Fall 2011 Schedule-MAT 115 -Take MAT 115 unless: you are a doing a MAT concentration, you already have credit for MAT 115 (or higher) , or you are currently taking the course.

Scheduling Strategy #4- SOC 101 Take SOC 101 unless: you already have credit for SOC 101 , you are currently taking the course

Scheduling Strategy #5- GEC:

Scheduling Strategy #5- GEC Work on completing your GEC courses, especially GNS with lab, WI, and GN if you haven’t already done so! See Freshmen Friendly List for help in selecting GEC courses.

Scheduling Strategy #6 For Fall 2011:

Scheduling Strategy #6 For Fall 2011 Special Education Concentrations - If possible try to take at least one or two of your required concentration courses. Look at the Special Education Concentration Handout for concentration course options. Remember only 2 of your concentration courses can also count toward your GEC requirements. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to fill out the pink concentration form during your advising session showing your concentration choices, so the concentration information can show on your degree evaluation!!

Other Scheduling Options - LIS 120 (1 sh):

Other Scheduling Options - LIS 120 (1 sh ) LIS=Library Information Studies. This course is a basic technology course that focuses on teaching. Completion of a technology portfolio is required for licensure. Vast majority of seats are online.
