Be sure you actually like the topic of the course before signing up for one! You can find course descriptions online. You can type “freshman seminar” into the UNCG search bar) or go to www.uncg.edu/aas/fms/course_descriptions.html Registration Windows : Registration Windows You will be able to register for classes between certain times, depending on the number of credit hours you have completed. Most freshman will register starting at 12:01am on November 15 (this is when your “registration window” opens). Some of you, depending on your status or hours, may be able to register earlier. Be sure to check when your window opens! Instructions for Checking Your Registration Window’s Dates & Times : Instructions for Checking Your Registration Window’s Dates & Times Log into the secure area of UNCGenie Click on Student Services and Financial Aid Select Registration Click on Check Your Registration Status Select Spring 2011 and click submit Teaching Fellows : Teaching Fellows Teaching Fellows need to register for TED 199-01. The CRN for this course is 11977 Tips for Registering During Your Window : Tips for Registering During Your Window Check the day before your window opens to be sure you have your advising code because you can’t register without it. Know which classes are available. Check several days beforehand to begin planning if your top picks are full Have 2nd and 3rd choices/alternates ready Re-check availability the day of registration. Be poised & ready to go at midnight!! Have your Advising Code & CRNs for all top and alternate choices ready!! Enter CRNs for courses with only a few seats left FIRST. When you have completed registering, be sure to print your Student Schedule by Day & Time to double check that you don’t have scheduling conflicts. Registration Screen : Registration Screen No Seats Left? : No Seats Left? If you really want/need a course and there are no seats left… Keep checking back, sometimes a seat will become available (persistence pays off!) The Tuition Payment deadline is Dec 15th. Sometimes seats will become available shortly after that time due to non-payment by registered students. You can talk to or email the instructor to see if they will overfill the course. An instructor has no obligation to do this, but it may be worth trying! (if an instructor agrees, you will need to complete a pink drop/add form and take it to the registrar’s office.) Summer Classes : Summer Classes The Advising code for Summer School at UNCG – see advising notes. There are Two Summer Sessions 1st Summer Session: May 23rd-June 24th 2nd Summer Session: June 27th– Aug 1st Community College You may take classes at an NC Community or Technical college Make sure the specific course you take will transfer back to UNCG for credit. This info can be found on the UNCG website under at http://www.uncg.edu/reg/TransferCredits/CommCollege/CCindex.html You must request an official transcript and make at least a “C” Other Colleges If courses are not through a UNC system school, you must contact the registrar (the form is online) to see how the courses will transfer back.
