Ed, Special Ed, & Dual Majors is to take MAT 115, College Algebra (GMT) if possible!!! You must make a “C” or better to be eligible for TED 222. You must take TED 222 to be admitted to Teacher’s Ed. This course also fulfills your GMT/GEC requirement Middle Grades majors take MAT 112, but it doesn’t have to be taken Spring 2011. MAT 115 (“C” or better) TED 222 Admission to Teacher Ed. requirement Scheduling Priority #2 : Scheduling Priority #2 Every UNCG student must take ENG 101/GRD1. If you have not taken it (and have not fulfilled the credit another way), it is strongly suggested that you take it in the Spring. Scheduling Priority #3 : Scheduling Priority #3 GEC Requirements Work on completing your General Education Requirements GEC Scheduling Considerations : GEC Scheduling Considerations “Double Dippers” Some classes can meet two requirements at the same time Be sure to begin looking at courses that complete Global (GL/GN), Speaking Intensive (SI), and Writing Intensive (WI) Try to take “Freshman Friendly” (“FF”) courses These are courses which are often of interest to freshman Freshman have often been successful in these courses You will be sent by email or given a FF List. 4th Scheduling Priority : 4th Scheduling Priority Middle Grades Majors Only – Try to start taking concentration courses Spring 2011 Email Annette before advising @ rwcline@uncg.edu for list of courses required for concentration courses or get handout during advising Many concentrations courses also meet GEC requirements Grade of “C” or better required in Middle Grades Concentration courses. Preferred for all majors to declare concentration when advised in March or April 2011. Degree Evaluation : Degree Evaluation Absolutely critical part of advising and registration!! A must have for advising. A degree evaluation lets you know what you have taken and what you still need to take in order to fulfill your graduation requirements. From the UNCG homepage (www.uncg.edu), click the UNCGenie icon, and enter your ID# and pin. Generating your Degree Evaluation : Generating your Degree Evaluation Once you have entered the secure area of UNCGenie, use the following steps: Click Student Click Student Records Click Degree Evaluation Enter the term (fall 2010 or spring 2011) and click submit Click on “Generate New Evaluation” Click on the button beside your program and choose the term again Click the “Generate Request” button Select “Detail Requirements” option and click submit Print a copy and bring it to your advising appointment! Searching for GEC Requirements in UNCGenie : Searching for GEC Requirements in UNCGenie Go to UNCGenie, but do not enter the Secure Area.
