NADB’s Role in Border Energy Projects Financial and Environmental Sustainability Clean and Efficient Energy – focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency, cogeneration, clean fuels. Air Quality Improvements – pollution abatement equipment emissions wastewater effluent solid waste stream

Projects near Financing : 

Projects near Financing Grupo VITRO – Air Quality Improvements Installing new emission scrubbers as part of fuel retrofitting of furnaces in Monterrey. NADB Loan: $13M Total Cost: $26M November 2005 ZEMER Energía – Wind Energy 6 MW wind farm in La Rumorosa, BC and will sell all electricity to State of Baja California. NADB Loan: $5M Total Cost: $10M March 2006

Projects near Financing : 

Projects near Financing Optima Energía – Energy Efficiency Installing new boilers, A/C systems, control systems at private hospital in Monterrey. NADB Loan: $1.3M Total Cost: $2.6M December 2005

Projects in Development: 

Projects in Development State of New Mexico Dairy Biomass Energy Working w/ EMNRD on economic and environmental assessments Pilot project in Doña Ana County Funded by NASEO grant and NADB funds City of San Diego – Landfill Gas-to-Energy 2.5MW estimated to cost $4-5M Conducting feasibility study

Projects in Development: 

Projects in Development Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas – Wind Energy Funding monitoring and feasibility analysis for 20MW wind farm near Matamoros/Reynosa. UAT will use as a “self-generation” project estimated to cost $25M. State of Baja California – Solar Energy Implementing a residential photovoltaic solar energy program for Mexicali. Initial phase will cost $3-4M and NADB is funding part of the site identification and economic analysis.

Projects in Development: 

Projects in Development Peñascal Wind Farm Funding avian impact and interconnect design studies. 200MW first phase; NADB loan $20-30M. Located in Kenedy County, Texas. State of Sonora – Solar Energy Rural electrification of small water pumps for “off the grid” villages. Project size is estimated to serve several hundred “pueblitos”.

Priority Initiatives: 

Priority Initiatives Methane to Markets USEPA, SEMARNAT, USAID to target methane capture projects in northern Mexico. Biogas projects are priority for analysis, development, and financing. San Diego Regional Energy Office Targeting industrial facilities in northern Baja California for preliminary energy audits. NADB works with company to identify viable EE projects and then offers financing. World Bank – Energy Sector Management Assistance Program Working on industrial energy efficiency projects in Monterrey region.
