What is COMET? : What is COMET? Mission statement: The COMET Program strives to be the premier resource to support, enhance, convey, and stimulate scientific knowledge about the weather for the benefit of providers, educators, and users of weather information.
The COMET program was formed by UCAR to serve as a bridge between operational, research, and educational communities in meteorology.
COMET Program Goals : COMET Program Goals Provide high quality residence and distance learning opportunities
Expedite the transfer of scientific knowledge
Facilitate participation of operational forecasters and research scientists in advancing applied research
Build strategic alliances with industry, educational institutions, the federal government, and professional organizations
Find innovative ways to enhance the performance of weather forecasters and improve the utilization of weather products
