Zigbee Home Network: Zigbee Home Network The Zigbee network is responsible for:
Be responsible for building and maintaining devices communications
Collect devices information in term of user requests
Manage devices according to user settings
Zigbee Home Network Architecture: Zigbee Home Network Architecture
Two-way Communications: Two-way Communications Two way communication is required between the:
Home Coordinator & Home Appliances
Home Coordinator & Home Controller
Home Controller & Home Appliances
No communication between home appliances
Identify Zigbee Network Devices: Identify Zigbee Network Devices Zigbee uses a 16-bit network address or /and 64-bit unique IEEE address to locate all Zigbee devices including coordinator, router and end-device.
Zigbee uses endpoints to distinguish different services provided by the appliances, e.g. extension socket.
Individual sensor/actuator identification: Individual sensor/actuator identification Sensors:
Temperature
Light
Humidity
Smoke
Actuators:
Light switch
Radiator valve
Local Network Control/Communication Simulation: Simulate two-way communication between a local controller and a Zigbee device (LED)
Demonstrate the local control function Local Network Control/Communication Simulation
Simulation Setup and demonstration: Simulation Setup and demonstration Simulation Devices
-----Zigbee Home Coordinator
-----Zigbee Home Controller
-----Zigbee Home Appliances
Remote control/communication simulation: The architecture we propose for remote control of the indeedNET project is illustrated below: Remote control/communication simulation
Slide14: Remote Control Development Stages
The proposed architecture consists of five main stages:
Implementation of a Home Gateway to Internet enable a Zigbee Network using a personal computer.
Replacement of the personal computer based Home Gateway with an embedded device.
Development of a Virtual Home for monitoring the security and safety of actions.
Integration of the Virtual Home with the Home Gateway
Design and Implementation of a user friendly interface
Slide15: Stage 1 Development
A connection between the internet and Zigbee network has been achieved using the following architecture:
Slide16: Stage 2 Development
The next stage in development requires the replacement of the personal computer in the architecture with an embedded device.
Slide17: Stage 1 Implementation (1)
The first stage of development has been implemented and is illustrated below: Zigbee Node showing switched of LED Mobile phone used to access home menu
Slide18: Stage 1 Implementation (2)
The first stage of development has been implemented and is illustrated below: Menu showing current state of LED Menu showing LED being switched on. Zigbee Node after the LED has been switched on.
Work plan for next three months: Work plan for next three months Select wireless sensors
Design wireless actuator (light switch, and radiator valve?)
Design a local controller
Design an embedded home server.
Start to consider routing algorithm and energy saving control algorithm
