And how are you going to be able to make money in tomorrow’s environment. Question 3 : Question 3 How well do the people in Jetking truly understand the business theory? What do you need to teach them to change the business theory for tomorrow? And how you are going to do that? Everybody did Business with full understanding that Microsoft “Owned the Operating System” New Business Theory : New Business Theory Bill Gates Embraces the Internet “The Environment will be Internet based” Owning the Internet involved hiring of new Software People. Search for Content Ownership Involvement in actual Hardware ventures New Business Theory : New Business Theory How many people have firm grasp on implications: Old Microsoft products were late, unreliable & difficult to use. Service was poor. New Business Theory : New Business Theory Internet is a wide-open place of competition. “Owning” will require speed and responsiveness. Hiring people with value for speed and customer caring. Required changing of values of existing people. Jetking during growth stage : Jetking during growth stage Jetking’s target group did not have too many career options There was minimal competition The Jetking’s students were not very demanding. The growth of PC sales was very high since 2003. Jetking during growth stage : Jetking during growth stage There was a shortage of hardware and networking professionals. Students were placed even before the completion of course. If you teach latest technology, PD, communication skills and stress management were not considered crucial. Our business partners understood business theory that most of the students got job before course completion so they did not work on holistic development. Jetking Today : Jetking Today The students are becoming very demanding. The competitors are investing in high quality infrastructure. This has put a pressure on us to improve infrastructure. Alternative career options and strong competition has resulted in drop in enquiries. Jetking Today : Jetking Today Higher Industry expectations from the industry are posing a new challenge in placing students. Internet based & blended learning will require new set of people & investments. Requires speed & responsive to customer needs. Requires changing of values of existing franchises and franchisor. CHINESE DUALISTIC PHILOSPHY : CHINESE DUALISTIC PHILOSPHY Ying & Yang Slide 18: Rational view cannot easily accept paradox (self-contradictory) We cannot live with two seemingly contradictory forces or ideas at the same time. Slide 19: Tyranny of the “OR” pushes us to believe that things must be either “BLACK” or “WHITE” A or B, not both.
