Writing Dialogue Some helpful tips The Writing Loft Keep your character from sounding like other characters in the story. Establish your character's voice as carefully you do his or her physical being. Avoid adverb tags. Don't have your characters participate in meaningless conversation. Don't use dialogue to give information you can give in narration.
