Aim of the ATP: 

Aim of the ATP To support the DfTs agenda on sustainable travel; To reduce congestion locally; To improve accessibility to the site; and To improve air quality

Objectives of the ATP: 

Objectives of the ATP To gain business involvement for the ATP in the long term; To establish the baseline travel situation; To improve public transport services; To achieve time savings through reduced congestion; To improve transport choices through greater awareness, and To reduce space required for car parking.

Background Accessed via M1, Jct21 Located near an AQMA 42ha site On-going development of the site Offices and warehouse distribution space 2,500+ employees

Where people live…..: 

Where people live….. Mapping of employee home postcodes showed: Less than 1% live within 1 mile of the site; 58% live within 1-5 miles; 41% live more than 5 miles from the site.

Staff Travel Survey: 

Staff Travel Survey Online survey July ’06. Response rate: 19% Results: 85% travel by car; 6% by bus; 4% cycle; 5% Other (e.g. walk, motorbike / moped, taxi, train)

Staff Travel Survey Results: 

Staff Travel Survey Results 39.5% live within reasonable cycling distance, 47.5% said there were measures which would encourage them to cycle to work, 37.3% would consider joining a car share scheme. 3 main reasons for driving to work; Lack of suitable alternatives Convenience. Distance.

Encouraging Cycling to Work: 

Encouraging Cycling to Work Cycling information. Cycle racks. Bicycle User Groups. Showers, lockers and changing facilities. Dr Bike events. Cycle mileage. Bike flexi benefits schemes (BOOOST)

Encouraging Car Sharing: 

Encouraging Car Sharing Grove Park Car Share Scheme Guaranteed Ride Home Scheme. Marketing of the benefits of car sharing (e.g. time, petrol and cost savings). Dedicated car sharer parking spaces in prime positions. Implementation of double yellow lines.

Encouraging Bus Travel: 

Encouraging Bus Travel Travel information – bus maps, leaflets. Liaising with local bus operators to establish discounts for Grove Park staff. Accessible bus services. Interest free season ticket loan.

Grove Park: Future….. Monitoring the impacts of the ATP; Encourage new organisations re-locating to Grove Park to sign up to the ATP; Liaise with neighbouring business / retail parks, Blaby District Council and Leicestershire County Council to develop a wider travel plan for the local area.
