Background: Background Accessed via M1, Jct21 Located near an AQMA 42ha site On-going development of the site Offices and warehouse distribution space 2,500+ employeesWhere people live…..: Where people live….. Mapping of employee home postcodes showed: Less than 1% live within 1 mile of the site; 58% live within 1-5 miles; 41% live more than 5 miles from the site. Staff Travel Survey: Staff Travel Survey Online survey July ’06. Response rate: 19% Results: 85% travel by car; 6% by bus; 4% cycle; 5% Other (e.g. walk, motorbike / moped, taxi, train) Staff Travel Survey Results: Staff Travel Survey Results 39.5% live within reasonable cycling distance, 47.5% said there were measures which would encourage them to cycle to work, 37.3% would consider joining a car share scheme. 3 main reasons for driving to work; Lack of suitable alternatives Convenience. Distance. Encouraging Cycling to Work: Encouraging Cycling to Work Cycling information. Cycle racks. Bicycle User Groups. Showers, lockers and changing facilities. Dr Bike events. Cycle mileage.
