Valley of Flowers ( vof ), a National Park of India and World Heritage site, a high altitude valley situated at 3600mts is open from July to September only & is Spread over 87 sq kms . Pristine water of Pushpawati river divides the enchanting valley in two. The pure air, dew on the bright flowers, sweet songs of birds rejuvenate the mind, body & soul. A trek of 5-6 kms in the valley is that most of the visitors do though the valley is nearly 12 kms long Valley Of FlowersSlide 5: BLUE POPPY Ratijari Geranium Geranium Valley Of FlowersSlide 6: Blue poppy Meconopsis aculeata Anaphalis margaritacea Bell Flower Campanula latifolia Valley Of FlowersSlide 7: Brahmakamal Saussurea obvallata The road after Rishikesh hits the hill snaking through mountains & forest with Alaknanda roaring down in the valley. Passing through small hamlets & towns Devprayag , Rudraprayag Karanprayag , Nandprayag , Chamoli , Joshimath & finally Govindghat At places the forest is dense and at places sheer rock face cut road. Small brooks cross right across the road, Tall Pine and colorful Rhododendron trees all over the place. The greenery is very soothing to the eyes specially after the rainy season Valley Of FlowersSlide 8: At Gobindghati the trek starts. 14 km path through green forest of pine, rododendron and deodar. Many flowers and orchids can be spotted as the valley gets lots of rain and the atmosphere is cold.
