What Information Society will bring?: 

What Information Society will bring? Increasing Importance of Knowledge Significance of Exchange of Experience Common solutions for common problems

Information Society and Problems: 

Information Society and Problems Digital Divide Uneven distribution of economic wealth Digital divide is problem of the whole world Growing unequal access to ICTs

What should be done ?: 

What should be done ? New infrastructure projects for knowledge – based economy should be initiated and current infrastructure should be improved, Electronic signature regulations should be prepared and put into force for providing trust and confidence to electronic media and promoting use of ICTs, Local content should be developed and the awareness of information culture should be promoted, Education system, its curricula and tools should be re-assessed and improved for human resource development,

What should be done ?: 

What should be done ? e-government initiatives which uses the web as a major tool in the management of services should be launched, National, regional and international cooperation should be done with all stakeholders, Universal service regulations should be prepared and user – friendly and cheap ICT equipments should be developed, Special attention should be given to small and medium size enterprises and for carrying them to electronic media, internet, programmes and projects should be developed for them.

Telecommunications in Turkey: 

Telecommunications in Turkey Works on new Electronic Communication Law Telecommunications Authority’s ongoing regulatory activites Electronic Signature Law wide – band internet access to 45.000 primary and secondary school (Ministry of Education) Efforts to connect 2.3 million small and medium size enterprises to internet ( Ministry of Industry and Trade )

Conclusion: 

Conclusion Knowledge – based economy and information society requires good governance Work to ensure “the telecom market is attractive to domestic and foreign investment” Creating a stable, reliable and speedy regulatory environment is important Significance of Universal Service regulations
