The seven spikes on her crown represent the seven oceans and continents in the world.
One of her feet is also standing upon the chains representing the acquired freedom of America.
The torch that she holds represents freedom along with Liberty in the name of the statue.

Eduard de Laboulaye host of the party was talking with his friend Fredric Auguste Bartholdi about the Revolutionary War in the United States; they both admired the freedom given in the United States; They both decided that it would be nice to give a gift of friendship to America.
