THEA (or TASP): passing scores on all three sections a. Writing – 220 (you may be exempt) b. Math – 230 (you may be exempt) c. Reading – 250 iv. Complete 60 hours with UTEP GPA of 2.5 or better v. File your official degree plan (see your Education advisor) c. **Complete required Education Courses – SPED, BED, ECED, RED, MSED, TED Complete your field work (internship semesters) in schools Fulfill certification requirements **NOTE: You must be admitted to Teacher Ed to take these courses.

After you are Admitted to TED, you will enroll in Internship Semesters. The field work will help you to develop an understanding of the knowledge, values, and experiential bases necessary to become an effective teacher Internship Semester I – EC-4 and 4-8 Students are assigned to schools for 3 half-days. Students are also taking courses. Internship II – EC-4 and 4-8 Students are normally assigned to the same school where they take responsibility for whole class instruction. Students are assigned for 3 full days while taking courses. NOTE: Secondary and All-Levels students participate in an Internship Semester where they are assigned to a school for 4.5 days and take an additional education course.

Contact mesilva@utep.edu BESO (Bilingual Education Student Organization) is organized for charitable, educational purposes and is open to all persons interested in advancing the cause of bilingual-bicultural education. GPA requirements 2.5 Dues. $20 yearly Contact mesilva@utep.edu Texas State Teachers Association, UTEP Student Chapter, is a new student organization in our college. Membership is open to any UTEP undergraduate student who is interested in education. The Goal is to promote interest in education and to cooperate in improving the profession and the community.
