REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS AND DEATHS All the Birth and Deaths are being registered in the State. Panchayat wise data of registration of births and deaths available at the District and State level.

INDIA TODAY State of the States Survey August 2005 H I M A C H A L P R A D E S H Ranked 1st in Primary Education. Ranked 2nd after Kerala in Primary Health Care Services. Ranked 3rd after Punjab and Kerala among the Best States to live in.

INITIATIVES Stress is on providing basic facilities at sub centre level Skill up gradation of staff to address medical emergencies Transport for remote areas for easy referral facilities Filling up of vacancies by training manpower

INITIATIVES Synergy of anganwadis, rural development ,education and health workers in areas of health Involvement of PRI’s Up gradation of necessary infrastructure at PHC/CHC level Stocking of essential equipment and medicines at the sub centre level

INITATIVES : 

INITATIVES ¤ BMOs post made promotional post and 69 Regular BMOs appointed in August, 2006. ¤ Policy decision to regularize the contractual Medical Officers taken in November, 2006, ¤ 424 Medical Officers regularized. ¤ GDOs working in rural and difficult areas for 3 years or tribal areas for 2 years made eligible to apply for P.G. courses against the State quota to encourage Medical Officers to work in rural areas. ¤ Institutions in rural, difficult and tribal areas notified.

INITATIVES : 

INITATIVES ¤ Anganwari Workers in the field involved actively in the immunization and family planning, health check up activities. ¤ Distt. cadre for Male and Female Health workers created. ¤ Part time Class-IV and Sweepers scheme in Health Institutions approved. 274 C-IV and 274 Sweepers being appointed on part time basis in peripheral institutions.

PNDTEfforts to Improve Sex Ratio : 

PNDTEfforts to Improve Sex Ratio Incentive of Rs. 5 Lacs as additional developmental grant every year to Twelve Panchayats in the State having Best Female Birth Rate relative to Male Birth Rate. Cash Incentive of Rs. 10,000/- to any person providing information about illegal female foeticide. Indira Gandhi Balika Suraksha Yojna to raise the status of Girl Child Rs. 25,000/- to the parents who adopt terminal family planning method after the birth of Ist Girl Child and Rs. 20,000/- in case after the birth of second girl child. The incentive to be in the name of girl child as an interest bearing deposit to be encashed at the time of marriage of the girl child.

Health Days Health days are being organized in every Anganwari Centre once in a month( on Tuesday) to carry out following health related activities: Pre-Natal and Ante-Natal Check-ups/ consultation, Immunization and general examination of the patients. It has been ensured that Medical Officer/Health Workers provide Services in Anganwari Centres once in a month 47063 Health Days have been organized in Anganwari Centres during the year 2006-07. 4030 Health Days during the year 2007-08 till June, 2007.

Involvement of PRIs and Community : 

Involvement of PRIs and Community PRIs are being involved in the planning, implementation and monitoring of health activities at District, Block and Panchayat level. PARIKAS (Parivar Kalyan Avem Salahkar Samiti) constituted at health sub center level which are functioning as village health, sanitation and water committee. Panchayat Members are also represented in PARIKAS. NGOs being involved in the delivery of health services in un-served and under served areas.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT INITIATIVES : 

QUALITY MANAGEMENT INITIATIVES In order to improve the quality of health services, quality circles have been introduced in 40 hospitals up to sub-divisional level in the State which have Asptal Kalyan Samities. Seed money amounting to Rs. 92.00 lacs. Provided to Asptal Kalyan Samities for quality improvement. State Quality standards for Health Institutions formulated and being implemented.

ROGI KALYAN SAMITI A total of 71 Rogi Kalyan Samitis are already functional up to District, Sub District level and CHC Level. An amount of Rs. 102 lakhs given to RKS as seed money to the following RKS. At District Level = 12 At Sub Divisional Level = 29 At CHC Level = 30 Total 71 At PHC level 25 RKS have been constituted proposal to constitute an interim committee at PHC level will be approved by GOI soon.
