History of our school :History of our school ...We belong to the Club of the Oldest Schools in Poland...


: The school opened its door for students on the 7th of October 1921. This first Public Female Grammar School in Lublin had struggled with huge location problems since the moment of its creation. It wasn't until 1933, after three changes of location, that the Unia Lubelska School was given the building at 12 Narutowicza Street.


Slide 5:During the years 1944-47 the school operated in the dormitory building at Archidiakonska Street. From 1950 the high school had its premises in the Palace of Tarlo (Palacyk Tarlów) (now the seat of the Voivodship House of Culture WDK).


Slide 6:In 1966 the school, being already named Unia Lubelska General High School in Lublin, moved to the building,where it has operated until today, which had previously been the seat of the Primary School Nr 12, at Plac Wolnosci 4


Slide 7:OUR PATRON I’m sure you have heard something about The Union of Lublin (Liublino unija). I think, you already know that is our patron but although I’ll tell you something about it.


OUR PATRON :The real union of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was signed in 1st July 1569 in Lublin and created a single State, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. What had been changed after the union? It created one of the largest states in contemporary Europe with collective government, currency and king but with separate bureaus, armies and the languages. „ The customs are softened by music” :„ The customs are softened by music” Malgorzata Nowak established youth's choir kantylena in 1993Barbara Cedrowska has been supporting her since 2003From the beginning of its activity the choir has adopted great music repertoire. From the religious and modern tracks, traditional music to the romantic works, all is sang a capella. Kantylena performs compositions of the present-day composers but also gospel, catholic works and folk music.


Kantylena’s successes :Kantylena’s successes The choir can pride on many awards:Kantylena is a laurate of the Golden (2002,2008) and Silver (1996,1997, 1999,2000,2007) Kamerton on the Choirs Contest A Cappella Children and Youth in Bydgoszcz, also took part in 5th Festival in Oskarshamn (Sweden) in 1997and in the Festivals "Eurotreff Musik" (Germany) in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2006; as well as in 11th Festival International de Chant Choral w Nancy (France ) in 2000 The Choir participated in the 7th International Choir Festiwal Tallin 2001 (Estonia) Kantylena supported many prestigious concerts along with the National Orchestra of Fiharmonia Lubelska and had a tour in Italy, performing for Pope John Paul the second
