In 2001, China was the 10th largest wood products exporter in the world, based on value (FAO statistics --- not including pulp and paper or furniture). China’s wood products exports in 2001 were greater than either Malaysia’s or Brazil’s, and were double the export value of Chile’s wood products exports. China’s wood products exports continue to increase, jumping 22.7% in value between 2001 and 2002.
